or blue, etc.
Why is there backing?

A black back makes the colors of the corals stand out better. it also helps hide any cords or equipment that are behind the tank.

I tried using an adhesive liner that I found at the hardware store, but it did not look as good as painting it. Another good suggestion that I saw in CORAL magazine was using an insert background panel (thin acrylic back) that you can easily remove and clean. That does get complicated if you have bulkheads for a closed loop, or powerheads back there.

Where exactly did you find that? I had requested a black back and side on my new rimless and it came without it ... so I need to do it myself and I don't want to use paint.
