Will coral reefs disappear?

According to the most recent Coral Magazine (which I wish I had in front of me), a snail researcher was asked about the health of the reefs in general in the "coral triangle" including Malasia, Pau Pau, India and points in between. He said that despite what people ("scientists") would have you believe, the reefs are whole and in good condition. Except near industrialized cities where they are declining because of polution. He also said that the use of dynomite on the reefs for fishing has acually created more biodiversity by fragmenting the larger corals allowing smaller less invasive corals to thrive. He also said that fishing with dynomite and cyanide should be outlawed because it is dangerous, but not because it is the single most damaging thing to the reefs.

Like everything else on the internet, tv and print, do not take one point of view as the only point of view. Liars can figure and figures can lie!!!

Stop listening to Al Gore (the man is deluded and a threat to humanity).

In order to stop global warming, we should eat all of the cows on Earth. They pollute more than us humans.

If we lose the coral reefs, we all need to get together... find some spots where the params are legit, and give mother nature a frag pack. If it gets warm enough maybe the West Coast will have some reef action :)

Be positive!

OMG
when will we the human polluters of the world wake up.
forget global warming (though that is aproblem)
how about the melting of the ice caps (which is literally causing islands in the pacific to flood over)

or how about this
YouTube - World biggest garbage dump - plastic in the Ocean

when will we as humans start taking care of our own messes.
we cannot just dump our waste into the ocean, spew it in the air, dump our nitrogen laden waste into the rivers (which then spill out into the oceans) and think nothing will happen.

We are killing ourselves!!!!!
Listen I agree the planet, reefs, animals, trees, will all outlive us.
but the air will become to polluted for us to breathe and we will end up killing ourselves.

I think the planet will evolve and we will die off.

I am starting to wonder if George Carlin had it right.
THE PLANET MADE MAN TO INVENT PLASTIC NOW IT WILL GET RID OF US LOLOL

water vapor...powerful greenhouse gas, we should ban that too, or better yet, tax people heavily for using water.

Lol at human made global warming.

My tank runs at 81-84° in the summer and 79° in the winter. Seems to be doing fine after years. Most destruction of reefs is human caused but not from temperatures. Just another selling point for the global government/tax/power shift group.

"scientists" say 1° increase will kill a coral, they show acros dying in their studies from this. Come look at our tanks I say and stop selling me this BS.

There are no Islands in the pacific that are flooding due to sea rise, that is a unfounded fallacy based on no scientific fact......Scare mongering at it's finest along with Ocean acidification. I can get you a report that talks about who and how they have pushed this apocalyptic catastrophe. If anybody is so inclined to do some reading I can post links today....? I can also post a site that is one of the finest in terms of science on Ocean acidification there is.....In fact I will just post it now...

Ocean acidification

The others I will have to dig up....

They never seem to mention that even though there are glaciers and icecaps melting in one area there are ones that are growing in others and the overall ice mass has increased.

Lets do it. But then we would get hit for introducing a non native species into that part of the ecosystem. You really can't win :)

Love it!

i love this thread. a year ago you'd get FLAMED hardcore even questioning global warming...

I just meant from a level of frustration lol :)
