Wish i never started

I never saw a cycle using dry rock and a few pieces of well cured live rock. Threw a piece of krill in the tank and let it sit there for 2 weeks, never saw any ammonia or nitrites. Pulled it out, did a waterchange and bought a pair of clowns. 4 weeks later they are still as happy as can be.

try turning one pump off at a time.. wait an hour or so and see if that helps... process of elimination !!

I have found the easiest way to figure out where micro bubbles are coming from is to shut down one piece of equipment at a time wait a couple of hours and see if the micro bubbles have decreased or gone away. Your tank looks good. It just needs to stabilize and that takes time. Remember nothing good happens fast in a salt water tank. The wait is worth it. Don't worry about the canister filter I know a couple of people that run them and are doing well. It may be something as simple as power head drawing brief vortex and sucking in air. This is simple fix. I would suspect the skimmer. Just put a large foam block on the output if you find that it is the skimmer. Like the others have said if you find it's the filter check all connections and the top seal. All new tanks have a few bugs to work out.

You are getting alot of false info. Good live rock and skimming is all you need my friend. Let nature take care of the rest.

The worst thing you could do is listen to the advise of a person that thinks they know it all. There are many different way to achieve the same result in this hobby. Just because it's not the way you did it doesn't make it wrong. I've been in this hobby for over a decade and I learn new things everyday. I keep an open mind and do my research and decide if its something I want to try or not. If you feel there is some inaccurate information being put out then please post some supporting documentation so that it can be understood and maybe we'll learn something from it.

Okay i have had reef tanks for many years and i know what has worked for me . I am just trying to help and i do not know it all.

I had a coralife 65g skimmer that would spit so much micro bubbles, cut up my sister panty hose and rubber banded it to the output. Worked like a charm

I have never heard of putting a shrimp into tank to cycle. There are good bacterial products out there you can use. I have always used good live rock and skimmer and never had to cycle my tanks. This sounds fishy to me.

This is actually very common practice, people have been doing this for years and its really more responsible than adding fish before the tank is ready.

I don't know if its been suggested already but you should attend a meeting of your local reef club. If you do a search for Atlanta Georgia reef club one comes up. There is a lot of good info and helpful people on this site and it's one of my favorites but there is a lot that you can gain from a reef club. It's a good place to look for equipment and they can give you the heads up on which lfs you should stay away from, which is golden advice IMO, and there maybe someone local that can take a look at your reef. The best advice I can give you is to do your research on here before you purchase anything whether its equipment or livestock, it will save you a lot of headaches.
