Worst smells in the hobby

What are your guys's least favorite smells you have smelled in the hobby?

I have a strong stomach, and skimmates don't smell bad at all to me (it just makes me happy the skimmer is doing the work), but DEAD SNAILS are the WORST.

It's not a particular snail either. I have smelled trochus, nassarius, vermetid snails. They all have that putrid funk that you cannot forget.

I cant smell unless its really strong… been like that since birth lol but I can smell a dead anemone insert barfing emoji

I have heard that dead carpets are just unbearable. I hope I never find out. Turbo almost had me puking my soul out.

Sponges, I had a very large chunk die on some Gulf rock. I went to scrape it off and it's possibly worse than snails, it has a similar smell but another twang that just sets it off.

If your tank starts rocking you won't care. Just leave them in there dead. Probably not a dead conch in a nano, or even one of those massive Mexican turbos. But the rest...

I have a very sensitive nose, so I have to breathe through my mouth for most of the work on the tank or wear a mask sometimes. I particularly hate any dead snail especially turbo (when you get some DOA from invert store).

One other smell I cannot handle is when you handle a dying leather or very stressed one by hands. The smell stays on your hands forever. I wash with dish soap, put lemon juice all over my hands, and continuously wash them and it takes hours and hours to somewhat diminish.

I can get over the skimmate pretty fast and filter socks. Dead clam is pretty gross, although this has happened maybe twice where I got the clam out before totally eaten by cleanup crew.

I took out a dying trachy to do an iodine dip and was slapped in the face with the smell of death. Into the outside trash it went. Not a big fan of the smell of LRS fish frenzy when I’m cutting it into portions.

Dead turbo snails! But my gorgonian when it's taken out of the water has a weird, unsettling smell that doesn't sit right with me...
