Would you Trust This Tank/Stand?

Still on the hunt for a new tank set up I found a 30 gallon cube with stand, sump, skimmer, AI hd prime, supposed to have rock as well. Initial picture I got was it still up and running and looked nice. Now its been sitting on his back porch he said for the past week. Hes in northern Ohio by the lake, new pictures show some snow in the tank and on the stand. Also looks like some water was left in the sump. He was asking $400 obo this even worth pursuing?

Hard to say without pics and actually seeing it. I go and see it & see how negotiable he is. When he's got you face to face folks tend to be more willing to move it at a lower price.

You could probably buy a brand new one with a warranty for that price or close to it.

That's not as bad as it initially sounded. The wood is well waterproofed with a lacquer or polyurethane finish. With light, tank, and stand, that's not an unreasonable price. Get pictures of the inside of the stand. if it's not a cheap pressboard bottom that's been waterlogged, I'd pull the trigger on it if that's the size tank you want.

Cant tell, should I worry about the seals? Its been raining and today its almost in the single digits

Check fb.marketplace tanks are all over I got 200 gal running with radions apex controller slimmer and mp40s and a ton of other stuff for 1k deals are out there

Sorry, misread the first message, I thought it was just the tank and stand. If he’s saying all of this is included then, that’s not a bad deal. Just check that stand out.

Plywood bottom. Looks like it got soaked. Will warp. Sump is nice. Just for the components it would be a good deal, but dump the stand.

Being out in the weather for a week isn't likely to hurt anything if that's the concern.

Thats where its listed lol, just not a lot available in central Ohio

The stand I can fix or build one, my main concern were the tank and sump seals. Cant tell if water was left in the sump to freeze

Well, it's saltwater, so it'd have to get a heck of a lot colder than central ohio has gotten to freeze.

Any idea why it was taken down to begin with?

If you DO decide to get it, just say to yourself 'Everything I bought is infested with Ich' and run it fallow.

Appreciate the feedback from everyone! Would you jump on this instead? Newer 28g JBJ led with wifi, comes with the stand and everything in it, rock coral, clowns (which I would rehome a pair). Supposed to be the professional version which I believe are are 3 watt leds for a total of 89 watts, for $300?

That’s overpriced. The led’s on that tank are still sucky and you’d eventually want to replace them. The mushrooms at the top of the rock work is a dead giveaway.

I had to drive 1.5 hours for the tank. I looked in the 100 mile radius section for the deals
