Wrasse with injured tailfin

Can somoene help me out what to do?
My yellow-purple wrasse (leuxo) has a damaged tailfin since yesterday morning. It still ate fine but had problems swimming normally. Today i came to my tank in the morning & i noticed him stuck against the overflow, when i moved him he started swimming again & then disappeared on me.

I do not know the reason as why the tailfin is damaged, the night before it was damaged he went into the sand to sleep & the other morning bam, damage… my other habitants are 2 clownfish, a links goby & a sailfin blenny.

What should i do?

There has been aggression from my (future female) clownfish towards the other clownfish, but never seen her aggresive towards the wrasse during the day.
My tank goes dark at 10pm & by then the wrasse was allready buried in the sand, i have no idea what happend at night tho, could it be that the wrasse accidentaly swam into a wavemaker because my tank is too dark?

It’s possible, but I really doubt it because fish are usually pretty good at navigating in the dark. It’s more likely due to aggression from other fish or just some unknown injury. As long as it’s still eating, its fins should heal pretty quickly. Just keep an eye out for any signs of aggression or if things start to get worse.

Isn't it weird that i found it against the overflow this morning? i thought he was dead but when i touched him he started swimming again & dissapeared (probably in the sand).
Problem is, i can't see any aggression during the day, so idk what happens at night..
Could something else bit his tailfin when he was sleeping in the sand? are there any critters able to do this?

Oh yeah, that is weird. Sorry I completely missed that because it’s very late here. It could still just be from aggression or maybe even flukes but it could also fin rot or something else bacterial, but i don't know too much about things like that unfortunately. No problem, the wrasse swimmed fine yesterday & ate tho, it's just this morning i found him like that against the overflow.

i'm at work now, so no idea how he is now

I would cover my wavemakers with mesh (I use filtration bag and a see through and closely observe if any agression occurs. Usually desease donøt just suddenly show up. If he was perfect at night an damaged in the morning it's probably not deasease.

Can you post a video of the wrasse?

I’m troubled by the symptom of weak swimming - wrasse use their side fins to move through the water and the damaged tail fin shouldn’t affect its ability to swim too much.

I’m troubled by the symptom of weak swimming - wrasse use their side fins to move through the water and the damaged tail fin shouldn’t affect its ability to swim too much.

Currently i'm not home to make a video of the swimming, i went back to see pictures of the wrasse & i noticed that the tailfin allready has damage for a longer time, it's just getting worse & worse over a couple of days.
When the wrasse swims it seems like she is not having any power to swim & gets pushed around by the wavemaker, most of the times going vertical.

Could it be some kind of infection? the wrasse still ate some food yesterday & was actively trying to swim.
This morning the wrasse was pushed against the overflow :/

Should i be worried for my other fish?

Wrasse is swimming weird and with Humped back causes concern . Jay mentioned side fins (pectorals) which they use to maneuver and can be an issue from aggression injury or a neurological issue which affects wrasses. A 45 second video may be of help to determine behaviors you see

He indeed developed a humped back...
I will try to make a video when i get home, hopefully he will still be alive & out swimming...

I couldn't find the wrasse yesterday, so i couldn't make a video.
I have a acclimating box ready for him to seperate him from any possible aggressors and so i can monitor him better.

Hopefully he isn't dead under the sand or rock somewhere.

I always wait a minimum of 14 days (30 is better) from when I lose a fish due to an unknown issue, before adding anything new.

I talked to my LFS & he said my goblyanus linki is probably the culprit…

I’m not sure what you mean - do you have a Link’s goby? They are peaceful, I don’t see that as being a problem.
