surfn said:here is a pic of the "atlantis tyree superman monti", a local reefer got from Copps on RC, who got it directly from Tyree or Atlantis (cant remember which one).
I've distributed this quite a bit over the years, including a frag to rural Alaska... (I believe the first to that state after talking with the guy)
Needless to say it was asking to be chopped... Sam Tabora (aka Bruddah) got a few pieces of this original colony and spread it to a few buddies, including John Susbilla (you zoanthid guys know him as the INFAMOUS Tubs
). My local buddy here in the DC area (Robie Sayan, October 2003 TOTM on RC, now out of the hobby) got a piece from Tubs in a trade they did (which on a side note included Robie giving him the now infamous pink lemonade acro in that trade). This was all in 2003... I convinced Robie to break off two NUBS of the Superman for me... I lost one soon after when it rolled over and got fried by an acro... Robie got out of the hobby unfortunately in 2004, and I bought his mother colony of Superman... he had lost his job and fallen on hard times so I paid him handsomely and recouped this (and justified to the wife) by spreading this out and selling it. There's a ton of people who have gotten the coral from people I sold it to, which is great... I'm not exactly sure when Atlantis and Tyree got it, but it was well after this, as there were only a few people who knew about this coral at the time we had it. Robie had a sick tank... here's a link to his article from Oct. 2003, where you could see a pic of the Superman (again long before it was "Superman")... you could even see a pic of the "pink lemonade" acro... he had a SICK zoo collection too...

Not a bad song to sing though!very true. I really like to know lineage on some of these corals that command high prices... it like buying purebread dogs! If your gonna call it AKC- you better prove it!Marine Flora said:copps,

uke: It makes everyone think badly of names they don't recognize.
