I have never seen a wwc after party frag or colony with some green tips like in the original release photo. Every single one I have seen (including WWCs up to date colony shot in their 900 eye candy or build thread) has only yellow. It looks no different than RR pink Floyd to me. Does anyone have one that does? After seeing WWCs most recent colony shot with no green, I was very surprised. If theirs doesn't even have some green tips...............I'm not gonna call bs but........very odd.

Sometimes the corals look better with some photoshop...hahaha.
Yea, I mean I've always considered wwc a trustworthy vendor with accurate representation of their corals under blue leds, but this has me a little concerned. I have the opportunity to get a frag so started looking for colony shots and couldn't find any with green tips anywhere.

Look at their release photo, and then their colony. Also BigRs colony, who definitely knows how to bring out all the colors in his corals (Walt Disney etc). I even saw a thread of a guy growing a colony side by side with RR pink Floyd and they look identical.

I am certainly not accusing them of anything, I'm just confused. You'd think someone's colony would have some green tips, especially theirs.

I seen the thread you mentioned where the Pink Floyd was grown out beside the after party and it does look exactly the same.

I might be wrong, but I vaguely remember a thread here where someone intentionally grew a pink floyd and after party frag next to each and they fused together. But, I don't recall a picture of that. There was another thread that someone made comparing the two, the pictures there were identical as far as I could tell.
I also seem to recall that they changed their lighting to leds at some point, maybe some corals are still adjusting.
But, who knows, everything I've bought from them has been wysiwyg, and has matched their photos very well. I've never had any issue with what I've gotten.
As an aside, their latest round of ebay auctions has what is labeled as after party, although I'd image the label or image is off

Interesting. I'll try to find that fusing thread.

Yea, I saw that on ebay actually, definitely a mistake. Just like they have a 100% green acro with black polyps labeled 500 degrees, a kingpin chalice labeled deja blue chalice, and a sunset Monti labeled seasons greetings. They tend to do that a lot on ebay unfortunately lol.

It might have just been a post in one of the comparison threads, now that I think more on it, someone saying what a friend of theirs had done.
I used to look at their ebay auctions quite a bit, but it seems like there's a lot more generic bland looking acros. They are named, not that that means anything, but I can't find colony shots of a lot of them. Just my opinion, again, I've been happy with everything I've got from them.

Yes I saw that friend of a friend post. I agree that there are some more named pretty bland (who knows though, they are just frags) acros without colony shots on their ebay. I bought 2 a few weeks ago just to be surprised to see what they grow into lol.

Wwc is one of my favorite vendors and their acros always grow the fastest in my tank, so definitely not a knock on them. I'm just a little skeptical at this point that I could get the occasional green tips on one, which imo, makes it not worth buying. That's really what I'm trying to do here, see if it's possible.

It's not an After Party aka Pink Floyd. It's one of their others, with multiple names for the same dang coral.

I know that nobody wants to hear this... especially the fanboys, but WWC and Vivid are big-time offenders of both photoshop and renaming other people frags. They are not the only ones, but tend to be the most shocking to folks.

I disagree completely about wwc aa far as photoshop offenses. First off you basically have to use photoshop or similar program to make the coral look like it does in real life. I personally have never received frags from wwc that don't look exactly like what I've ordered from their live sales or ebay auctions (a ton over the years). I actually don't think they do much at all except correct. The coral pics are taken under actinic leds, so they actually look like that if you have actinic leds. If you buy a frag and put it under a 10k halide, it's not going to look the same. They also take the pics in front of a black frag rack, which shows the contrast of the coral more.

Having said that, I am stumped by this one.

Let us shine some light on the WWC Afterparty. It’s one of the most finicky Acropora we have. The color seems to fluctuate quite a bit from one system / location to another. And it’s growth rate is pretty slow and as such it doesn’t respond well to changes as those changes will cause it to stop / slow it’s rate of growing for an extended amount of time. Kind of a catch 22, lol... It’s a spectacular Acropora once it’s fully adapts to your Reef. Just don’t move it! Haha Nevertheless here are some photos we were able to get this week of it in our 500 gallon. It does show the green tips under daylights and the yellow tips when actinic. Hope this helps clear up any confusion.

Not the same thing. Here is the release photo under actinic with both bright yellow and neon green tips under the same lighting. So daylight vs actinic isn't what was producing green tips in that photo.

Who cares about the coral, look at that magenta coralline algae around it! Where can I get some coralline that pops like that?

I don't know, seems pretty legit to me. When acros go through that explosive growth phase you will sometimes get the white base and colorful tips. Sure there's some editing involved but nothing obscene.
