Yellow fiji leather?

I got one from Gonzo who got it from Walt smith, these leathers are in low tide areas that get pounded by wave and sun. Mine sits infront of a mp 40 at the top of the tank…

Update! My leather has grown significantly since I got it and appears very happy. I also upgraded my lighting back in December.

It looks happy where it's at. How's the bright yellow holding up for you since you first got it? Looks good!! in your photo.

Looks a little faded to me but it could be a reaction to the new lights

I might try one soon. It's hard to find a true bright yellow coral. I've bought a few labeled yellow and there just another neon green. Unless you blast them with pure blue LED's then your rocks and fish look like crap.

If you look at the picture from when I first got it it was bright yellow and faded a bit. I don't mind it's still very healthy what attracted me to this coral was the shape really. Not sure exactly what influences color intensity with these since my lights are full spectrum 3w LEDs and this thing is pounded with flow. Maybe water quality? I'm not sure. I've been having issues with high magnesium lately

Could also be due to the fact that I have a lot of leathers- I've also got a devils hand, a yellow sinularia, and a green nepthea in there

UPDATE: it's dividing! Just noticed this today! Yesterday it was shaped funny now I see the stalk is splitting

$50 seems to be an awesome deal, i would totally be sold on that, cool pics

Since it's doubled I'm probably gonna sell the new half for $50

I had a 8"+ Fiji yellow that would not show any polyp extension. I added a koralia pump blowing right on it and it was open within hours. I ended trading it though because my lighting turned it a ugly brown color. In its new tank it is a bright yellow again.
was your lighting just nor bright enough? What was the issue? I have one that has a brownish tint should i move it to a brighter spot. 80% of the polyps are extended just looks a bit smaller and not bright yellow like when i got it.

I have two and both are on top of rocks In direct flow.

I keep mine at the bottom of a fairly well lit tank with lots of flow and I've had it since initially posting this thread so over a year.

Thanks i moved her up and gave her more flow. She looks great today no brownish color and all polyps extended. And she opened up more too like she was when I got her

Do you know what wrong with my fiji? I got it three days ago with a very good price. Then i came home and place it into the small tank which i usually acclimated the corals, it opened beautifully. Then i put into the 120 gallons, but it has shown gloomy like the pic for last 2 days, it didn't show up the tiny ones. Rightnow im having 2 lights: 1 current led 60" and another t5 lights. I checked that it required moderate light and flows but seem not work to my tank

Sarcophytons, ToadStools do not like to be moved, it may take a week or more to reopen. This coral develops a wax coating on the surface, the coating helps to remove any algae or detritus on the coral's surface. The coral must shed that coating before it will reopen, sometimes higher flow helps.

easy to keep but not the color. to keep it's bright yellow color it need intense light. I have one about six inches. after about six months it faded to tan. the problem is I can't increase the lighting too much for fear it would bleach out my other softies that don't need that much light. I have only a moderate flow and it's polyps are always out. 120 gal. with two Chinese dimmable led's. whites at 50%, blues at 70%.
