He has probably just gotten comfortable in the tank. Looks like a yellow clown goby to me and they are notorious for nipping SPS polyps. I never keep one in a tank with them now.

They are reef safe as long as you don't have SPS. I have one in a 3.5gal pick with euphyllias and mushrooms and it does great in there.
As mentioned nipping is a natural behavior for them, however, healthy coral colonies (not frags) can take it in stride. I've only seen issues with them first-hand when a pair spawns on a coral (kills that portion of coral, although regrows once eggs hatch).

I wouldn't rate them as reef safe. I had one that wiped out a couple of colonies, they couldn't recover fast enough. It's a shame, they are cool little fish.

Okay. I had a breeding pair for years. 3 yrs before the female died of egg bound illness. Anyway, they were okay in my sps system, but I had larger colonies. The one they made there home on was a purple staghorn. They cleared away a good 1" area to lay eggs on a regular basis. I have a pic of them. below. Now, when the female died, the male sort of went crazy. He could not find a good home and ended up killing a few smaller sps frags I had added. Eventually he passed too.
Love these guys, but they will find an sps they love and make home. It can suffer if not established or large enough to handle the picking.

I'm having the same trouble , I was told it would be fine in a mixed tank
He even nips a lps , iv tried to get him out but he's just to shy and fast. acro has not been happy since he's been in the tank and another sps frag won't show any polyps and was fine before I got him

Think ...... Hope Iv got him trapped in a hole in the rock lol now just Gotta work out how to get him out .... Rock is stuck with reef putty but might just snap it off and take it out ..... Knowing my luck he's not even still in there lol
