Just received my yellow prawn goby from live aquaria and had an issue while acclimating him. I was opening the bag over the tank (Just had it floating) and he literally jumped into the aquarium. I didn't realize he had so much energy, especially having just been shipped. I must have really startled him.

Also added a pistol shrimp but he went right to digging

The goby's been in the tank for a couple hours now and hasn't made a hole or made any effort to hide, he's just been following his reflection in the glass. He's currently more of a brown than a yellow too, I'm guessing thats normal and hoping he'll color up in a couple days.

Should I be worried?

I think the little guy will be just fine. Dullness may be due to nutrition or stress. Feed him meaty food presoaked in Selcon if you have any. Color will come back if he stays healthy and stress free.

He will most likely scope out the the tank a bit before he settles in. He will find a spot he likes and will make his home. Hopefully the goby and pistol find each other soon.

I have 5 gobies and 2 pistols and I really wouldn’t be concerned.

Thanks for your quick response.

How long did it take for your gobies and pistols to find each other?

Between both tanks and all the gobies and pistols, immediately to a couple weeks.
How big is your tank?

I had a pistol and a goby, the goby disappeared and I never saw the pistol; however, after a velvet outbreak I was removing some rock to catch the fish a viola there he was. Long story short he’s still in there as evident by his burrows under the rock and sand. He normally comes out when he smells the polyp booster and reef roids. Other than that an occasional click

The goby still hasn't tried to burrow anywhere.

Also, the pistol is so tiny and the tank is so big! Ive been looking everywhere but have found nothing

It’s all good. Just keep an eye out for small mounds or spots of clean sand.

Just don’t go digging for him.

Spotted him right next to the tiny hole where my pistol first went into. Im hoping they are both safe and found each other. Keeping a lookout for any new holes!

I have a ywg that was bright yellow and it turned a dull yellow over time. Did some research and it said females turn dull yellow/grey as they mature. Could be from stress but it could also mean it’s just a female. Mine was only bright for a few hours In my tank
