Yellow Tang with Parasite. Ich?

^ I agree, freshwater dip will help to remove a large portion of them and get a positive ID. If it's flukes, you can easily treat the DT with Prazi-pro.

The freshwater dip is a good idea, but I'm thinking that looks like ich to me. There is a point in the video where he comes toward the camera and turns and you can see them sticking out off the body. Being yellow it's difficult to see the spots well.

Thank you guys. I was able to catch the yellow tang and did a 5 min. fw dip but i don't believe anything fell off. He's in QT right now and will start a coppersafe treatment.

I need to catch the Kole Tang who is a cunning speed demon.

Question: is it possible to treat both coppersafe and an antibiotic, like furan-2, at the same time?

I was asking because when trying to catch the Kole Tang he got a couple scratches on him. I still haven't caught him. I was curious if treating with antibiotics to prevent infection was a good idea or not. Sounds like not. What would the procedure be if there were scratches or if a scratch became infected during coppersafe treatment (chelated copper).

If you want to prevent infection a dip in acriflavin (or ruby reef rally which contains it) would help with that. If you then see signs of infection after starting copper you can combine furan2 or kanaplex (or even both) with copper. You would simply make sure there is extra O2 in the water when doing that. You'll have to do water changes every other day and redose the antibiotics each time. The copper would also need to be added to the new water each time to be sure it stays at therapeutic levels.

I haves all my fish in a 40 breeder QT. I'm using Kordon's Copper-Aid, a chelated copper. I've been bringing the copper level up slowly. I'd like to be at the therapeutic dosage by now.

I'm using an API copper test. I need help interpreting the color. This photo is untouched. Can i have some opinions as to the PPMs? My gut says it's only at 1ppm.

That doesn't look like it's reached 1ppm yet. I can't remember which product it is, but either copper aid or copper power has issues with being overly diluted which is why coppersafe is my preferred chelated copper product.

It's Kordon's Copper Aid - it's diluted almost to the point of uselessness. You'll probably need 3 - 4 times what the bottle says to reach therapeutic levels. I used it in a 75 gallon, and it took three and a half 4oz bottles to get into therapeutic range.

Use it, because it's what you've got - but use your test kit, not the label on the bottle, to tell you how much is in the water.

Thank you @melypr1985.

That's good to know.

The Tangs look the worst. I'll dose it until it starts going up.

Some images from the tank right now:

Those poor little guys. They have both Ich and Velvet. These new photos show it very clearly. Don't take too much time raising the copper levels!

FYI, when the parasites make an almost perfect circle it is a good indication of velvet. If they are more oval shape it is likely Ich.

Good luck!

Just dosed again. But as of twenty - thirty minutes ago this is where the copper reading is at using two full 4oz Copper-Aid bottles. Added another dose of the third about 10 minutes ago.
