You didn't really need this at all...

I had a room FULL of stuff I bought for my reef but never really needed it. Some of the stuff I didn't even open! Do you ever buy things you don't really need? Let's talk about it!

What is something you've purchased for your reef that you didn't really need at all?

I have enough to open a store
Will post pics after work

I just looked at my shelves and have doubles of stuff I may never use! Lol. Mostly medicines as I tend to use only a select few but my fish medicine cabinet is bigger then my human medicine cabinet. Lol

When I got into the hobby I bought a big bag of KH buffer and I didn't open it for like a year. I use it like once in a blue moon in tiny tiny amounts.

That’s funny :beaming-face-with-smiling-eyes: . I recently realized I have four lug containers full of fish stuff that I either purchased and didn’t use.......... YET!!!..... Or I’ve used and it didn’t fit the needs of what I was trying to use it for. Or have it from Pryor tank set ups

Oh yeah. Tons of "backup" equipment (and backups for my backups), lots of medications for specific circumstances that I've never encountered, lots of reef chemistry solutions/boosters/stabilizers that I don't (and likely won't) use, etc.

Occasionally I will notice I haven't used something sitting on my reefing shelf. However it's rarely hardware and usually some kind of supplement or chemical. If I have leftover gear it's usually a seed for a new tank i end up assembling haha.

I have 2 large containers of Carbon that I feel like I will never use, and another of GFO that I can't imagine going through. I have used the stuff only a handful of times, but even when I did use it I think a water change would have worked just as well.

I have liquid Ca and Mg supplementation that is completely useless due to the "squeeze vs juice" ratios it can jump up my current DT, I could pour the whole Ca bottle in and it move the needle like 20ppm. I have dry mix, I bought the liquid thinking it would be easier, but it's more for a homemade balling dosing. Also....I have a bottle of Vibrant. Oh and a small vile of polyplab peroxide salts(medic) that I got for free to try but I have no idea what it does or how it would help ich so I've never opened it. If someone knows, let me know!

I'm having hard time to buy things i really need, let alone to buy anything that is not absolutely crucial and needed...

Donations welcome! ;)
I’m at a mix of this stage and the too much stage. I have too much of stuff I’ll likely never use and don’t need (from months to years ago) while also having a harder time buying things I need now

I have crap everywhere in the basement from gear to meds etc. Enough pickling lime for a few years of kalk and enough DE powder for several lifetimes. Hey its cheaper if you buy in bulk right? I'm just glad it's an unfinished basement and my GF doesn't complain. I also have plumbing leftovers in the shed and in my shop cuz you never know when you my need a piece of pvc or 10.

Let me show you my reefing storage room…

for me it’s mostly been additives/snake oils that end up being useless. I’ve got a cabinet full of crap in bottles I’ll never use.

I’m pretty careful about not buying useless equipment
that GIF had me dying ! :face-with-tears-of-joy:
