you realize that your mood is directly tied to how good (or bad) your corals are looking.
I just hooked up a CO2 scrubber to my tank yesterday and with my pH now at 8.2 my corals are looking super happy at the moment. Polyp extension hasn't looked so good in months. I realized I'm now too feeling super happy as a result of seeing this

My 160 gal tank has been terrorized for the last few months by a large crab. It has killed 3 pincushion urchins, 2 sea hairs, several large snails, attacked one of my beautiful clowns, and played havoc with of my corals. Tonight my 2 grandsons and I baited a fish trap, lowered it into the tank at lights-out, and sat in the dark holding a dim blue flashlight waiting for my arch nemesis. The cleaner shrimp explored the trap 1st, but I told the boys that it would clear-out if Crabzilla showed up. Sure enough, after about 10 minutes we saw him crawl out of a cave and make his way into the trap. Down went the trap door and we got him! We carefully put him in the fuge, and began to celebrate like we'd won the super bowl. I am still on Cloud 9. A Reefer's lows are really low, but the highs are so very high.
