Your "Do'h!" moments

This is my dohhhh!! Moment. Went to the grocery store by myself and look what I brought home.
Something like what homer did lol. Now I'm stuck with it hehehe
LOL ... My Lil' One's dream come true, he ask every time we go to the store.

One time i was fragging my milleapora and it went normal. The next day i realized i forgot to put the frags back in the tank, I only put in the main colony. All the frags completely dried out and were dead >:0 .

I dipped a beautiful Maxima clam that I looked forward for about 2 months to buy..... I then read a statement about a month later that you should only get into this hobby if you can pull out $100 bill and light it on fire.... that's exactly what I did with the clam.... Sucked :(

Last week while doing a water change I also decided to clean my sump and return pump. I must have turned the gate valve to the return off and never turned it back on. Of course I panic and think my return pump doesn't work... So I take it apart, clean it in vinegar, test it in a bucket. Everything works fine except when I reconnect it. So I overnight a new one and attempt to file a warranty claim (all of this taking about a week). Thursday I'm finally off and can devote more time to problem solving I figure out the gate valve was the issue. All that panic for nothing. I never told my husband. Wayyyy to embarrassed to admit it was something so simple.

Turned my doser on Manual to slowly drip Alk for about five minutes. Got distracted and forgot about it. Walked past the tank about an hour later and it looked like it was filled with whole milk! Freaked out, immediate water change and nothing was worse for wear except my heart. Tank was cloudy for a while and everything was covered in a white film. Took forever to get it back to normal. doh!

Me!!! Set up a new tank and had a power head in the lower back corner to blow under and off the back of my rocks... Was filled past the power head and decided to plug in my lights well I plugged in the power head and you got it instant shower and I could not for a few minutes figure out why I was getting a shower!

Then the other day I was going to do a water change. Drained some water had to check on my 11 mo old daughter and when I came back I put water from a tank I drained the other day into the tank thinking it was my Ro water. Wasn't till I saw the gunk start to flow in did I realize it. Need less to say I spent the next few hrs cleaning and making more ro water! SMH

Every time I went on vacation, I thought the float valve on my top off system was sticking. Finally, I realized after the third time that I was filling my reservoir with too much water (didn't want to run out while I was gone!). It was creating a siphon.

Sometimes this hobby makes me feel really dumb.

I once pocket dialed my controller into dumping all of my ATO water into the tank at once. Came home and heard the powerhead for my top off running dry. When I figured out what was going on I pulled out my phone to shut it off an saw it up on the screen already with the ATO outlet toggeled on in override mode. The 6 minute time out I had set would normally have caught it but I had just switched from an aqualifter to a 80 gph power head

Grabbed my Acropower aminos (white bottle yellow letters with cute pinky decor) and put in 10 mil. As I dumped it in the DT the smell hit my nose.
I put in 10 mil of (white bottle yellow letters with cute pinky decor) REVIVE CORAL DIP!!!:eek::eek::eek::eek:

Just did that about 3 weeks ago!

I managed to measure salinity from the tank instead of the fresh water when doing a change... As a consequence I ended up thinking the fresh water was at the correct salinity when it was nowhere near. Yes, I really did manage to do that.

The biggest idiot move I ever did was in 2008 when I moved my tank 1200 km (745 mi). I had a small 33-gallon reef. I set up a 90-gallon tank in the new location some weeks before the move of the 33. I paid someone to go over to my old house and pack up the tank for me. My mom was driving out to visit me at the new location, so she brought the boxes of fish, corals, and rock. She arrived late in the evening, I unpacked everything, put the corals in the new tank, old rock into a tub with heater and powerhead. I can't remember why, but I put a Clownfish in the rock tub. In the morning - dead Clownfish. Of course the rock cycled from 2 days out of water. I felt so bad. The Clownfish made the entire trip, and I was a moron. :( Luckily, this was the only mortality in the entire tank move.
