just located some furan2 in my lfs. any specific instructions that you guys found to be succesful? i know there are furan2 instructions out there...just want to know if theres been any changes in the procedures

I think it's pH your thinking of.....
I used to do dips with freshwater but I would lose some polyps from it. Since I switched to using tankwater I haven't lost any of my zoa's after a dip. I think the freshwater really stresses the polyps. JMO.

2 frags, 1 colony on rock;
there seems to be some inconsistency w/ the recommended dosage. some say 1 capsule/1.5 cup...some say 1 capsule/3 cups. also the resting period in between each session...some say everyday for four days. some say every 3 days.

Yah there is a lot of inconsistencies. I do about 1 cup of RO water per packet of Furan-2 and its seemed to work well for me. I don't always get it perfect, in fact normally i just fill a ziplock baggie with some water from my RO/DI and guesstimate 1 cup. I also add some 8.2 pH buffer. I haven't seen any negatives from dipping in RO. Dipping every other day seems to allow the good polyps to recover for a bit. In the frag i'm dipping now, the good polyps have always opened up for that recovery day which is encouraging.
Good luck with yours. I'm starting to think one of the keys is to do a large WC after your done with the dipping procedure (if they are going back to your display), or a 100% WC if in QT. A few others i've talked to haven't done the large WCs and the fungus/bacteria seems to come back. Could be coincidence, or it could be that the fungus/bacteria is in the water. I don't know the answer to that.
