My baby mandarin... It took tons and tons of work to get my tank ready for her and she's grown from about 3/4" to almost 3" now!!!

Sorry for the crappy cell phone pictures but in the first picture she barely takes up a the length of one of the squares in my frag rack so I like using these two pictures for growth comparison...

Sept 2020 taking up almost 3 squares and she's even bigger today!!!

Awesome! We want to have a mandarin. What did you do to prepare your tank? Our LFS only suggested buying a bottle of tigger pods and letting them cultivate for a month or two. We did that and bought our mandarin 2 weeks ago and he she died in less than two weeks. Everything else is healthy and the water is fine so our best guess is she starved. We have a 95 gal tank with a 25 gal sump but no refugium. I’ve heard people say they cultivate the copepods in a refugium but also heard people say they will cultivate in the main tank. Others say in the main tank they will be eaten by fish and coral quicker than they can cultivate. Our worry is that the latter is true and we won’t be able to keep a thriving colony in the main tank enough to keep the mandarin fed. So I was wondering what you did and your thoughts.

My tank is pretty new (nearly 4 months) so I don't have anything I'm really proud of. And most of my joys like my anemone shrimp and McCosker's Flasher Wrasse have been murdered by this jerk pseudo.

Right now my favorite thing in my tank is my larger rainbow bubbletip. But I did just get a ton of frags in yesterday so we'll see if one of those takes my top spot as they grow in.
