One of the challenges in this hobby is getting your spouse or significant other to agree to a purchase or need when in this hobby.
Is there/was there an item you really needed or wanted and you had to get through your partner's approval?
What was the item and were you able to convince them on the purchase?

I see many desiring a tank upgrade and are often held back due to budget or Needing to wait.

She loves my tank. She also knows that I don't just spend and that each purchase is well thought out with money being a high priority. Like when I started using kalk. Dosing 2 part was getting expensive. She saw me dong the math on cost of equipment and kalk vs what I was paying for 2 part. She knew I was investing to lower cost. And it did lower the cost. But I had to dish out 450 bucks to get there. So she doesn't question anything about the money.

My partner is the one who got us into this hobby, now he’s left it to me, too frustrating for him LOL. He has always been impractical about it though, I cared about equipment, he cares about stocking.

Well we have been together over 38 years and are getting to know each other but, just to be safe, she came home from work one day with an empty tank and stand in our living room. To late to talk me out of it.

The only thing that required a discussion was the tank itself. She likes the tank when she likes me, but when we have a little spat, she’ instantly annoyed with me and the fish always get dragged into the mix. it’s actually quite funny.

I heard it last night when I went to my normal feeding routine

"oh you need to go feed the fish now?!"

"Yes! the foods defrosted and I feed every night at this time. 5 minutes and we can continue "

Then I went to the bathroom and came back and she was on the couch looking at the tank lol
