Your Target Alkalinity DKH

I use Red Sea coral pro salt and use there specs 11.8 to 12.7. I have great growth and color in my lps and softie tank.

28months ago, I started targeting as close to 7 as possible. If it goes above 7.4dkh then I make dosing adjustments. I have had less ( virtually zero ) issues since going to do. My tank is mature and don't care about trying to get that extra mm of growth. Most important to me is to keep corals from stn/rtn. Nitrates are typically undetectable. Phosphates in the morning are nearly undetectable ( they rise as high as .07ppm during day becuase of food but by morning its back to zero ).

@revhtree Should add a poll for this.

I try to shoot for 8dKH and have been successful. For a while I was running high at 12dKH, noticed faster growth but not so great color. Since I've dropped my dKH and started again dosing AA and coral food, growth is still steady but color is really coming out now.

My mag is high its 1400 how do i get it down some every thing els is good

That level is fine. It probably came in your salt mix. :)

The only way to ever lower magnesium is by water change with a lower magnesium mix.
