I do know that Rico got fritz starting on the latest build and disclosed it. Not sure on the others. Think a big part of it though was Daves Nano Tanks used it and was not sponsored to the best of my knowledge. He ran a weekly live stream for the community to jump in and ask questions and I think a lot of people tried because of him.

But for me, I have been using it over a year now. It is a good salt for the price, but most importantly, it is readily available in my area. It also mixes quickly when the water it above 70. The other thing I really like about fritz though is the 4x50 gallon bag pack. The cost is a little higher, but it insures my salt stays more "fresh". I have smaller SW tanks atm but a high water volume in the house. Because of this, humidity is a little higher than desired. Using the standard box big bag, the salt gets all crusty towards the end after making 5 gallons every week. Last, when I finally get the new tank up and running, I am building a 65-75 gallon SW holding tank. When it gets low, add water and pour in 1 50g bag, leave some powerheads on, and done.

I use Tropic Marin because it mixes at around 8.0-8.5, which is where I try to keep my tank.

I think in the end most salt are pretty much equivalent and you should use the one that mixes at your desired alkalinity level. I would bet it's pretty rare for salt to be the sole responsible factor for total failure or success.

I've used IO for decades. Current system I do a 10 gallon weekly change on 180 total volume. Using kalkwasser in my ATO top off, along with those small water changes, I keep a pretty consistent DKH around 9. I do run a refugium.

Water changes to me are just for the elements in the salt. Not nutrient export.

Its all about promotion. So companies don't promote other do. Fritz was a small chemical supplier in the market and wanted sell salt and increase the customer awareness. So the Hired a promoter to get the word out.
Thru the years I have seen this happen many times. Just depends who the sales promoter is and how long he stays at the company. Its and emb and flow thing.

I have noticed that fritz rpm salt is all over youtube. I do not doubt that it is a decent product. However when almost everyone uses it on youtube it makes me think that they are either sponsored or are receiving the product for free. Lets face it the reefing community is not that large and youtube creators are basically the face of the hobby now. I have absolutely no problem with anyone having sponsorships and not saying 100% that this is happening but it feels weird to me. I personally use IO and wont switch. I am probably just overthinking the whole thing but just thought I would share.

I switched to Fritz RPM from reef crystals to make dosing 2 part viable. i am running ~9dKh alk and when I was dosing manually I wouldn't dose on waterchange day as the reefcrystals was high alk. when I had to set up a doser that wouldn't work as most doser don't have the settings to just skip 1 day. with Fritz the salt itself is around 9dKh alk so it won't spike the alk with the doser.

I've also noticed that reefcrystals builds up a brown crud that coats the bucket I use and Fritz so far does not.

the prices of both in Canada are very similar so it makes sense for me.

I've been using Fritz for 2 years now, really like it. Mixes up fast and always has consistent parameters. Was referred to fritz by another reefer. No complaints
