Haha, you're right. I changed the tag on flickr but it didn't show up on the post above. Hybrid or not, I think it's a beautiful fish. You guys should come over again soon. I'm not sure what our plans are after the auction on Saturday yet...

After searching for a long time, our local fish store got in a really nice trio of Ventralis. Super excited about these guys:

Working on pulling out the big male bartlett and dropped the temperature 1-degree (now 77-78 vs. 78-79). Wish us luck.

Some unfortunate news. The smallest of the ventralis didn't make it -- she never ate for us and barely came out to swim. Really sucks to lose a fish -- we found her yesterday -- but the LFS we bought her from has a 7-day guarantee and still had two pairs (selling only as pairs) available. We decided that we'd pick up the pair (they weren't actually paired, it was just a male and female placed into the same tank) and add the female to the Envision and the other male to the ADA to see how he does. I think it's going to be a great fit. We'll pick up the new pair today or tomorrow.

Very nice. I had a pair in 2010. They were very shy. They lived about a year. Good luck.

Not an uncommone experience, that's for sure. I've been wanting these fish for easily 5-years and been trying to track down a good set the past 8-months. Excited to finally make them a reality.

As an aside, I've been very active in testing recently -- things were slightly out of tune.

First my refractometer was off, recalibrated and tested 1.023 when it was reading 1.026. Have brought it up with a few water changes and replacing evaporation over the past few days. Magnesium was also a bit high, 1520. After water changes and reducing the doser, it's come down a bit. Will slowly bring it down -- but I am seeing a little bryopsis return so, while I hate to do it, I might do another round Tech-M.

Did the full gamut of testing, here are the results:

Salinity: 1.025
Alkalinity: 8.9 (little high after the w/c with Red Sea Coral Pro)
Cal: 410 (move down a bit from normal range, likely due to increased Alk)
Mg: 1400
Phosphates: 0.06 ppm (likely higher due to increase feeding of the new anthias, will monitor and perhaps start GFO in 10-days or so if no improvement)
Nitrate: 0.01 ppm (not exactly 0, but just slightly over)

I also picked up a Salifert silicate test kit to see where I was getting silicates from -- testing the main tank and newly mixed water both yielded nil results. So must be coming from a food source?

I'm also running low on carbon and thinking of switching types. Was running standard BRS lignite and have gotten some suggestions from some good local reefers.

Wow, awesome compliment! Thank you very much for taking the time to go through this entire thread. I feel like my photography has gotten much better but there's always room for improvement and I still want to get a top-down photobox.

Here's a time lapse video I made of feeding the scoly. The beginning 20-30 seconds is really cool, IMO.

This was my first time trying to do a time-lapse video. Learned a few things so I think I'm going to try again and post a better video. It reacts like that every single time, so easy to predict/perfect! :) Thanks for checking in and the compliments.
