Zoa in high flow area

Zoas need different levels of flow IME. Some can't take blasting and rastas and utter chaos are some of them. No problems growing zoas under low to medium indirect flow for me.

Your tabling acros are just awesome.

I agree that zoas like to be clean. Any flow that accomplishes that works for them. I have had to coax more than a few grumpy zoas to open by blasting them with a turkey baster several times a day. They would open little by little until they were fully open. I figured they had something that irritated them and the baster blew it away. Just my experience.

That big green coral up high... isn't that a Montipora spongodes? I have one but it doesn't quite have the upright "fingers" like that... although they're growing. Nice!

Not sure but is that white stringy worm what’s bothering the zoa? Just noticed it for the first time this morning. I have no idea what it is

I normally place them on the tank floor to get acclimated. Don't keep moving it around, give it time. Then after about a month, I place them where I want them and again give them time to see how they react. I have Zoas all over the place in my tank, hi to low flows but none directly in front of a power head, although some are off to the side of the direct flow and it's high there, and they are fin also.

I use Seachem Reef Dip. Whatever you get, just follow the directions on the container. It's amazing what comes off as a result of dipping, however the ratio for this product is not 1:1 with tank water, that's a bit intense IMO, however I've never gone above the recommended dose.

And looking above at your picture, go get the dip today and do it. You never know when comes in on the corals and it can give you a problem down the road.

Zoas need at least medium flow. One of my zoa colonies was in low flow and started to turn brown. As soon as I moved it into high flow they turned back to their normal coral within a 24 hours.
