Zoas stressed need advice

I dose b-ionic 2 part, twice a day, once at night and then morning. Some days the alk gets used up more so than calcium, if I don't dose twice a day alk will go from 9-9.5 to 6-6.5 so it's important that I test and dose daily.
That's a large swing on alk imo.

I've just found in my experience 7 and under a danger zone is all.

I check parameters daily, I use API for daily checks for a baseline and then have saliferts for when I see something out of wack. I have used API kits for last 7 years with no issues to be honest.

My only concern was that I don't see one bit of coraline algae on your rocks and my tank is covered at 5 months. Thanks for all your info and I hope they are better tomorrow!!

So a week later, some signs of improvement but not much. No decline however. I have a possible idea as to why this happened. I used distilled water from a local grocery store and I warmed up the water from ice cold in the microwave in the gallon containers. Could that have cause leaching into the water of some chemical? If so what can I do to reverse this?

I don't know for sure if your containers leeched anything or not but it's definitely a possibility. Some options are - to continue monitoring with hope they will improve or, if you're worried about leeched chemicals you could do a series of water changes over the next week or so. It sounds like they are doing a little better though so maybe they just need some more time. If they start to decline or you notice other negative effects in the tank I would go with 20% water changes until you turn over all the old water.

So I have done just that and did 2 sea water pre mixed water changes of 4.5 gallons each. As far as the zoas are concerned they are improving gradually. The negative effect I saw now was loss of color in my sps, which completely leads to sterile water ( to clean ) so I have begun to feed heavier and added cyclopeez and phyto to the tank to add nutrients. Parameters still look normal. So hopefully just a spell that will recover slowly in time but looks to be moving in the right direction.
