Anyone having zoa success with kessil? Let's call success they grow and generally stay healthy without melting and shriveling up.

I know it's a fairly intense light so just wondering about zoas response. Won a tuna blue in a raffle I'm planning to use it on my frag tank either with a couple dual 18 inch t5 or maybe stand alone. Not sure. Frag tank is 24x24 with about 80 percent zoas, some sps and whatever else.

I grow zoas and the only lights I've ever had are kessils.

Which model did you get? A350 or a360?

Zoas done well with my kessils.

Many more have spread like wildfire.

Ive had the AI Prime, XR15pro, and now the 360we and the Kessil has been by far my favorite. I have been using it for about 3 months and my tank is 90% zoas with a few mushrooms and acans. I have had more color and growth with the Kessil over the other lights I have used. I also enjoy it more than the other lights I have had just because it is very simple and easy to use. I had zoas under the Radion for 6 months that never grew, and they have doubled under the Kessil in 3 months.

Hi there I don't mean to hijack your thread but for those that are using kessils for their zoas what color and intensity settings are you using? I have a160 and a360 tuna blue and I just got 2 a150 deep ocean blue. Not sure which models of kessils I should be using.

Right now I am running a 360we on a IM 25g Lagoon at 55%. I am having trouble with the spectral controller so right now my lights are 100% blue for 12 hours a day. Zoas still growing and have more color than ever.

Ok how deep is that tank and are you using a gooseneck? If not how high above the tank is the kessil? Thanks

The tank is 12 inches deep. I have used the gooseneck but now I am using their newer mounting arm. Both do the same thing but the mounting arm is "cleaner" looking. The light is 8 inches above the water.

Ok great thanks. I have many tanks running so I will just have to experiment with the kessils a bit. I'll do one tank all blue and another tank with more white and see what happens. Thanks again.

you really gotta watch the intensity with kessils, they're so under rated... they're powerful. that said. the best thing you can do is set it and forget it! any time you move the coral or adjust the lighting you're resetting the the corals comfort aka growth.

Ok thanks will do. Do you run your kessils on just blue also?

no, i wake up the tank heavy blue and my apex simulates the sun, at the whitest I'm at maybe 90% with 70% intensity. you just have to play with it to see what works best for your corals. just don't crank that intensity knob too much in too little time.
