I do not have the time to read through all the replies, but I can tell you first hand that Amphipods will eat your zoa lashes which cause them to close. I have watched this with my own eyes.

3 weeks is a good amount of time for the newly added Mandarin to do damage to the pod population, but that is not enough time for your stressed zoas to recover.

If you still see swarms of amphipods a a month after the Mandarin you may want to consider adding a wrasse to help clean house.

After looking at your last pic of the watermelons I do not see any signs of the lashes being eaten by Amphipods.

If i ever run into these eggs, how exactly do you remove them?

Quick update:

I added a leopard wrasse. Waiting to see how it affects the pod population. Pods are continuing to mow down my Sunny D's. They haven't made any of my watermelons melt so far, they're just very irritated and several remain closed 24/7.

On another note; I had recently fragged this same Sunny D colony around about the same area the pods are tearing up the polyps. I'm curious if some how the fresh cuts somehow draw the pods in as many of my fresh polyps don't last long on frag plugs either. Just a thought...
