00W's AIO Smorgasbord

So getting them planted, if you call it that, was not that complicated thankfully.
I was a bit stressed about that.

Hi Parker,

Did you do manual GHA cleanup like a lawnmower and did you do 30% water change, then yes start Flux if ur going to be home to monitor and remove dead stuff. If ur on break for a week away, wait till u get back.

Unless your Dad has the expertise to really remove GHA
Parker, I updated my build thread and took some pictures of tank so you could see my progress and also my GHA and other things that crop up. Read the post and see your end goal. Managing individual GHA clumps is initial goal and I expect as I get right balance of overall biome, I won’t see GHA like that. Note, my gyres are not entirely clean nor is middle back wall. I leave to train my new fish to scavenge so they don’t just depend on my great Greek cooking - lol.

Hope this helps - have a great week off!

Your a real Johnny Appleseed! Well done.

So I have 2 tanks going to one sump so I decided to send all the water from the big tank directly to the fuge bypassing the sock and skimmer.

It's also stirring up the ulva and cheato.
I slowed all the flow down to about 200 gph. Let's see how it goes. :smiling-face-with-smiling-eyes:

I am allergic to some grass, some tree, and STUPID PEOPLE...lol...SO glad none of that is here...
It's Spring Training and Snow Bird season... There's plenty of stupid to go around right now.

I think my dad can probably add it and remove GHA. What’s the best way to add it? Should we just pour the RX straight into tank?

I always add it to water and stir it up real good first, then I add it slowly in the return section of the sump so it spreads more evenly. You can also just add it to a high flow area of the tank, but definitely mix well before adding to the tank.

Agreed! Follow directions regarding skimmer/UV, etc. as well.

@Calmwaters Amanda, what’s going on with tang and ick? I see different messages between here and your build thread and couldn’t figure out latest status?

I think yesterday when I didn't see the spots it was because of the lights this morning under white light they were still there so as soon as I got home from work I moved all the fish into an extra 20 gallon I had and started treatment with coppersafe.

Ok, well I’m glad you got everyone in their right spot. Sorry you have to go thru this though.

I agree with Frank, the longer fallow period and I believe that’s Jay’s timeline as well.

I saw you asked about buying the new tangs and have them rdy to go after fallow period. IMHO, I would not buy anything right now. Get through your fallow period; deal with anything new that might crop up and give the tank time to heal and mature during that time. It will also give u a break to just focus on what might come up - less of that spinning plate feeling.

There are always new fish to buy and new deals to get them.

I was just worried about the tangs fighting too much if I wait that long to put them together. I might have another tank in storage that I could set up as another QT for the other two. If I wait until after the fallow period and then get them it will be another month before I can put them together and the scopas will have already had time to decide the entire tank is his.

I wouldn’t worry about the fighting since A) everyone is new and now in a temporary tank. Once you put them back in DT after fallow period with rocks slightly arranged different, the clock starts over on them and territory. It also matter what kind of tangs. List the ones you have and the ones you want . Then you can ask a tang person the stocking order or comparability - I think Joel and Frank have that knowledge and can also recommend a person. You want to be very prudent on this, just like I have had to be on my Wrasse/Anthias list and also my tang choices.

Either way, I wouldn’t buy anything right now.

And in the meantime, if you don’t already have, get a good-sized acclimation box. This is the one I have and he’s a neighbor of Tim’s!

I only have the Scopas I want to add a lavender and an orange fin tomini. The rocks in the DT are different already because I took them all out to catch the fish today and I never get them put back the same lol. I will ask the tang folks what they think or maybe they will read this and reply. I'm off to bed now good night everyone.

Good night Amanda!

Maybe you'll win a acclimation box in the monthly Supporter giveaway.
