Checked my test kit for mag was a sailfert test kit. Just tested and mag is at 1290.

Mag is at a good level, could go up just a bit. I would let your alkalinity drop a little on it's own, and dose for calcium til you get to 420-440.

Will do. I've been targeting KH of 10 and holding there. What should be my target?

there has been a lot of reports of burnt tips and bleaching of corals from folks that run bio pellets having there alk higher than 9dkh. I run mine at 7 to 7.5. Jon Warner suggests 8. Some people go 12, so yeah. it's your call. But in order to get your calcium up, it will be easier if your alk drops.

You can not run chaeto with bio pellets because the bio pellets will out compete the chaeto you are starving the algae to death. 99% of the time people that run bio pellets all they have in their sumps is a skimmer and bio pellets no refugium.

duno bout that. chaeto is very hardy and can live off very low nutrient. if your nutrients are so low chaeto is dying your corals might be next as they need some nit/phos to photosynthesize. hopefully not but i would def keep an eye out and check your levels to make sure its not to low.

The white on the chaeto may be sponge. There is another big piece in there and it's not changing color. The hair algae is definitely biting it though. Also, the rock I had bought from you had turned all green and it's turning back to white.

Thought my green hair algae was on the retreat, but it's coming back with a vengeance mrr. The only real change is that my gfo blew out of my reactor when I was tuning things and it went into my filter socks. So I threw it away and am running with just the EcoBak. I am probably overfeeding in the evening, but I am backing off a bit to get a better handle on nutrients. It's gmoney's rock!
