30 Gallon Cube Reidi Seahorse Build

Im not sure how to tell where it actully is, I took a turkey baster and tried sucking it out, and I think I helped her get it out a bit, it should come out on its own now I hope. I will call Dan in the morning and see what he says....

How's she doing, did she get it out?

I moved my horses to my display tank and this morning I can't find one. I hope she is just hiding real well. I don't think I'm cut out for seahorse ownership stress anymore.

She got it out and is eating well today! Thank god!

And nah, sea horse care is farily easy, just dont stress over it.

Lack of updates cause Im lazy...

Anyways, heres the deal with the tank as of today.

Sea horses are fine, dont do much of anything, they sit on the plant and when I feed them, they move, thats about it. They are not active as they were when I first put them in, so I am not sure what their deal is. A friend of mine said his did the same thing after they settled in, so at this point, they are still eating, so Im leaving it at that.

Second, the tank water is DIRTY. I have a filter and skimmer on it, skimmer pulls stuff out, but water is cloudy. Not sure why, maybe I am over feeding, but I only feed 20 shrip a day and they consume all of it...they have no stomach so its almost a complete eat then poop cycle, so Im not sure if I am over feeding. But in the wild they eat almost constantly, so I do not want to make them sickly by not feeding enough, but then again, I do not want to make them sicly by producing bad water quality...

Third, alage is becoming over whelming, its everywhere, its a brown cyano, I remember this is caused by somthing, but I dont remember exactly what it was. I cant add more flow to the tank at this point because the horses are already at their max with 750-800 GPH going through the system. I dont want to wake up one morning with a ead seahorse or two sucked up on the pump or stuck in the corner of the tank due to so much flow that they cant move.

No pictures, Im ashamed of the tank. What can I do to fix the above problems?

Not sure what your water changes.are.like but I would increase.those. its likely that theow flow is causing some of the issues and possibly your skimmer is not pulling its weight. I don't k.ow the specifics of these things so I am guessing.. but increasing water change frequency and size would help some.. can u add a dump possibly. This would allow more water volume and can add carbon/gfo or what ever other media may help.
I believe the brown cyanide lends toward a phosphate issue.. but I could be thinkin in reverse not sure.

Any updates? You can run more flow, you just have to make sure it's low velocity. Couple of things I would try are to run the skimmer more wet, make sure you don't have any flow dead spots and reduce your lighting. On my cube I'm running to Koralia 425's and my return is a rio 2500. I think the cube makes flow a lot more difficult.

Alage is still the same, I may just take it down and start over, may not do sea horses this time, but Im not sure.

I love Sea Horses but I am scared to keep them because they are so easily mistreated. =(

If you do the proper research and get the horses from a reputable breeder, you have nothing to worry about.

Just so you know I'm pretty sure those are kudas rather than reidis. Nice colors though for sure!
