30 Gallon rimless Budget sps reef build

What are your thoughts on the build quality of this tank? I am considering one of their 80 gallon frag tanks. I have read a few post where people said the silicone was sloppy and the tanks scratched easy but those were all from 2011.

The silicone looks good and the build quality it's as good as the other guys out there. It has always been one of my favorites tank ever since I saw one in person

Thanks. I have not been able to see one in person yet so I wanted to get some opinions before i order.

Personally, I think it would be a little bit boring, at least at first if you only do one colony, I would put one colony on one of the rocks if you are set on wanting a big table, and then using the other space for more than a few sticks.

Yea I kinda leaning towards having more sticks but the red planet being the main coral of the tank

I like this idea! If you wanted more diversity maybe a couple of other tabling acros with different colors? Either way, if you have the patience and can stick with it, the tank will look really sweet.

I think I'm also going to cut the rucks I'm half making the about 1 to 2 inches tall from the bottom of the tank

Ok I need help here I'm stuck deciding if I should paint the panels white or stain them mahogany. What you guys think

I'd test on a piece of scrap... a large piece before staining. You might want to veneer it if you're going to stain it. If you've never done veneer before use a PSA veneer. Its really easy to work with. Also you can get a scraper/roller and edge trimmer for a few bucks. Or make a scraper out of a piece of wood and use a razor blade and straight edge to trim.

I vote stain. Heavy sanding, wipe down with tac cloth, apply stain with rag, polyurethane x3.

I vote stain. I have always painted mine white, I am tired of the white look.

I agree, I think the white would be too much white - the dark would contrast well and make the actual tank stand out more......

Yea I went with the second one. And yes going skimmer less.
