74 Gallon Build

Hoping I can adjust the floodgate to fix it. If not, the next step will be a beefier return pump. The drain is 1.25", the return pump is 594 gph.

Moving all my stuff from the JBJ in and add a few smaller size fish. The tank will be softies and LPS.

Floodgate helped, but still not there. Dropping by AC tomorrow to pick up the beefier return pump.

Here is the JBJ. It is only like 18 months old. The JBJ Unibody light is a lot newer. The aquamaxx HOB-1 skimmer is only a couple months old.

Upgrading the pump helped marginally, but added a ton of noise. Bringing the pump back and just going to use the smaller one. Added a dual nozzle loc line for the return. That appears to have had pretty much the same impact as a pump upgrade. Additionally, pointing one nozzle toward the surface and one down into the tank has created surface agitation, pushed more flow through the middle of the tank, and if the return pump is turned off the surface nozzle will break the siphon and prevent the lower nozzle from continuing to pull water into the sump.

Moved over the live stock and rock this evening while the lights were out. Skimmer producing a good foam head.

Little cloudy yet. Skimmer needs time to break in also. Foaming a ton. Probably from the epoxy and the new filter socks.

Very happy with how it turned out.

Just need the skimmer to break in and not produce so much foam.

I used a lot of epoxy to get the rocks how I wanted them. There are fairly large caves all over it.

Really like!! I have a 40 cube with two kessil a 150 on it. If you will get it above water a little more I think you will like the coverage better, or I did on mine.

The coverage is awesome right where it is. It covers the whole aquarium about 5" down and I won't be building my rock that high so I am good :). The 30" depth is a bit of a challenge when trying to work in the bottom.
