After a few years of being in the hobby I have finally gotten my dream tank. Not too big, and not too small. I have owned many tanks, from a 40 gallon breeder, to a 210 gallon, The 40 was nice, but kinda got packed afterwhile, The 210, was just too much for me. Now I have a soon to be 2 yr old in less than a week. So, I placed an order for a Deep Sea aquatics custom made 90 gallon tank.. It has the dimensons of 48" x 24" x 18" tall. I like shallow tanks. I once had a regular 90 gallon tank, and I always thought to myself, I wish the height and the width was switched around, that would have been the perfect tank in my eyes. It took a while before I was able to finally order my tank. I will try to post pictures of stuff as It gets done.. I have a 75 gallon tank now, and I would like to throw everything from it into my new tank when I get it, without harming my fish.. Is this possible?

On to the Equipment list:

Flow: I love Vortechs, but 900+ isnt reasonable for me at the moment, SO I will be going with Tunze pumps, I am leaning towards a pair of Tunze 6095's.
Light: I have a 36" ATI sunpower 6 bulb fixture now, I plan to use it on my new tank as well, I know I should have atleast 8 bulbs with the 36" fixture, or a 6 bulb 48" but this is gonna have to do for now.
Sand: I ordered 90 # of tropic eden reefflakes
Rock, I currently have about 70 pounds, and am looking to add some more.
Sump: I have a 40 galloon breeder that will be used,
Skimmer: Vertex Omega 150 that I currently own.
Stand: I will be building my own stand.
Return pump: Tunze 1073.040.

This will all be controlled by my Apex.

So, I should ask, Is 2 tunze 6095's plenty for my tank? It will be mixed reef, with no SPS.

I switched a 72 to a 155 with no casulties. Use as much water from the old tank as possible and have a bunch of new water ready to go with the same parameters and you should be fine.

I just purchased 50 pounds of Key Largo Marco rock!, So this coming week, im expecting rock, and sand!.

Little update:

Sand will be here tomorrow (Wedensday), rock will be here Friday.. I also broke down and bought an MP40W ES. I wasnt going to, but got a good deal.. WIll supplement it with some koralia's for now till I save up for another one.

I also, bought the 2 x 4 and 2 x 6's today, made all my cuts, and tomorrow I will assemble the stand!

So of course, Fed Ex disappoints again..

My rock was supposed to arrive today, and for some reason It didnt.. I live about 20 minutes from the fed ex place, and they still couldn't get it here. I used to be all for fed ex. I'm starting to realize that UPS or more reliable. This isnt the first time its happened either. Have had fedex deliver a package to the wrong house a few times, and then took me 5 days to even receive the package that they deliver to the wrong house that was 2 blocks away!!

I have a 90 right now and I think the same thing about it being 24 deep.
I want to build my own tank as well

The dream
48x30x24 tall...

If I would of had more room in the house- I would have went something 72 x 24 x 18" tall..

Yup 90's are sweet. I run an ordinary 90 reef, but I scored a shallow 90 the other day for $10 great shape.48x24x19 and it will pull off a much cooler reef then I am running now. Great tank.

Seems like all the good deals on aquariums are on the East and WEst coast, where as I'm stuck in the midwest where everyone jacks the prices up on them! lol

But anywyas, about my custom tank. I found out from my LFS that it isn't being made by DSA, and it is instead being made by Planet Aquariums, as it was cheaper.. Either way I'm happy as I've heard nothing but good things from them. I know the guy at PA used to work for DSA, so its essentially the same tank.. Lots of pictures of there tanks on here and they look nice :).

Also, I received an MP40 today, and my Marco rock!! Now, I just need to quit being lazy, and finish assembling my stand lol. I don't get alot of time to get the stand done. When I get home from work, My gf goes to work, so I have to chase a 2 year old around while trying to build :).

Trust me the west coast cost a lot too....

That's why I am considering buying the glass and making my own tank...
I know glass thickness and the strongest glue to use to..so well see what happens

Alright, for all the plumbing experts.. I got a favor,, I know how to plumb my tank and such.

I am just wondering how I can plumb in my 2 BRS single reactors into my return line. Like I'm not sure what all parts I need to buy, and stuff to make the PVC pipes connect to the push fittings from the reactors.
