A Home For Oysters and Odd Couples

Thanks! Upgraded coral budget list-
$30 display macro
$50 for my cladocora arbusculas
$30 for my siderastreas
$35 for my manicinas (don't know if they'll ever recover from the live rock being shipped but want to include in case :) )
$50 store-who-must-not-be-named order
$5 single zoa polyp that the clowns taunt me with by hosting
$43 tunicate (don't know if these count towards, but erring on the safe side, they just sprouted new heads!)
$20 my hitchhiker blasto, he's probably just common, but he's nice in my eyes <3
$59 new goni and aussie blastos
Total-$322 :)
Monday morning photo dump!

Thanks, the clam was looking very irritated and less responsive than normal, and I'm away at the lab 5am to 10 pm today so I took her out and put her in qt with some phyto. Probably unnecessary stress but I didn't want her nuking the tank if something happened. Hopefully she'll be okay until tonight :/ clams are stressful. In other news, the sun coral is starting to perk up, tried the bottle trick last night, even saw the yellow tips at one point, much better than the starved sunken in state it arrived in. Hopefully it continues to improve.

Thanks :) from top down, this is what I woke up to, then after readding, then later tonight. Improvement but far from perfect. I had her In qt with phyto all day, followed ZephNYC s advice and checked nitrates, fed more heavily tonight. Took some other advice and (after reacclimating) added her back into the tank on a clean (no halimeda, etc to flow and irritate) rock at the tippy top of the rock work in a lower flow area.

Alright well I'm back from gencon and came home to a disaster area. No more tank sitters during contest time!
Cyano out the wazoo. Possibly brook or crypto on one clown so putting both in qt for a few weeks, but I'll have a very pretty mandarin, shrimp, and snail tank for judging :P

Sorry that you came home to some issues. Fortunately it sounds like most of it can be remedied with time and good husbandry. I hope your clown is OK.

Thank you, I think the clam threw off parameters compounded by me being away and not monitoring it every few hours. Cyano is already mostly gone from light blackout. Couldn't get copper yesterday but was able to get quick cure and I'm doing dips until the copper comes in. This morning I can't even see the white patches at all >_> I got an amazing deal on a qt tank though, petco had a dusty AIO on clearance and gave it to me for $20 (Aqueon Evolve 8). Until the cyano clears my qt looks nicer than my display!

Ugh, now the mandarin has an issue. Guess I can't take vacations with this tank.

Sounds like we are both have cursed tanks. Hoping everyone turns around. You were smart to dip right away.

We do! The mandarin is getting caught for qt today, going to use it as a time to try to train her to frozen as well. Half dose copper but people have said that should be fine because the clowns are already improving. Just inverts and corals for the rest of the contest for me :)

Mandarin looks much better today so holding off on qt, clowns look perfectly fine so I think it was brook, but keeping them isolated for a few more weeks. Found 1 tube feather duster growing out of the sand bed, lots of new tunicates (including baby blue lollis?) And my first nudi! tentative ID is Elysia Chlorotica. Running all blues to deal with cyano and loving how my hitchhiker blasto colony is looking :)

Aw thank you, I love them :) I keep trying to get a good video of when they try to fling the turbo off their shells, it's pretty fun to watch

Had never heard of the Florida Live Rock before I saw your tank but definitely jealous of all the life in your tank.

Thanks :) I'm sure it equals out when you take into account my maroon and clam loss >_> I can't decide between qt and no for the mandarin. It hasn't changed at all besides being less white. Normal eating and behavior. The only Id people have given is debris, but have told me I could put him in half dosage copper qt. I just feel like if nobody knows if anythings wrong that's really stressful for nothing, especially since copper and pods don't work well. Pictures are harder to get since I'm running only blues atm.
