It’s like my acro is shedding its skin. What could this be?

How big is the tank, how many fish and what setting is your hydra 32 on? Are you carbon dosing or using gfo?

50g cube W/20 gallon sump . RLSS 5 skimmer. I’m getting a par meter this weekend to use.

I see dkh 7.8 add 1/2 ts(d) or (p) what could be teaspoons?!
Acros need a really stable kh! If ur adding teaspoons to increase/maintain kh you could get a alkalinity swing and ur acro would stn rtn, what I think is happening right now

Try to invest in a doser (if my thoughts are right)

I have dose every 3 days 1/2 tsp to keep my DKH at 8.5 . For this tank I’m ok with the old school method dosing by hand. But I noticed that after I did this big Water change that this happened and it could be the cause of the swing

I was reading about “What to do” I can try to frag it to save what I can... question is: do I do it today?
Absolutely. I pretty much guarantee that it will be all gone by tomorrow if you wait.

I’m going to frag what I can save. Sucks because this acro was growing fast.

It won't make sense if you frag it and keep adding kh with a teaspoon, maybe I'm wrong because I'm a "new school" Reefer but it just doesn't make sense to me..

Theres nothing wrong with dosing by hand. I use a calcium reactor and still have to add anywhere from 1.5 tsp to 3.5+ tsp of baking soda daily because my sulfur denitrator uses up alk too. I get my CaRx tuned to my tank, and make up for the daily loss that's from the SDN with manual additions of baking soda. People are so afraid of the minor swings that occur. btw, adding 1.5 tsp adjusts for 0.3 dkh in MY tank; and I've had to adjust for 1.5 dkh on several occasions.

There's nothing wrong with hand dosing and some minor daily swings, making people afraid of it is pure FUD.
