They summarize a recent study released in Nature by the ARC Center of Excellence for Coral Reef Studies in Australia. It's one of the first studies to show that important ecosystem processes are being disrupted by climate change, even on scale as big as the great barrier reef. Unfortunately, they showed that acropora were hit the hardest of all coral species studied. It's scary news, but they are still optimistic that there is a chance to change things and save these ecosystems from total collapse if we act soon.

I think Climate Change is an important topic, and I get that people have strong feeling about it. I just dont understand why every conversation has to derail so aggressively on the matter. There are valid points for refuting and affirming the existance of CC, which I guess is why its a difficult topic to discuss. I just hate how it always becomes 'beating a dead horse.' Personally I believe it exists, but if anyone denies, or questions, its existance, i'm strictly curious as to why. I am not interested in questioning anyone's character or moral standing.

The above article was pretty interesting, suggesting that the lower levels of dissolved oxygen in the Red Sea have altered the metabolic rate of corals, which scientists accident to their increased temperature resiliency.

I got stung by a bee right on the back of the neck yesterday. We had a red fox in the yard a few days ago. The squirrel that nested in our deck carried her babies away. I have to repair the hole she made. I hate working on ladders.

My aunt lived to 105. Her name was Iduma. All the kids called her Aunt Dude.

I suppose if the Australians had the same environmental proclivities as New Yorkers they would pour concrete over the reefs and build tall buildings on them.

I found it interesting when I went to California that everyone drives 3/4 ton pickups. The shower head in my hotel room flowed 500 gallons a minute. They are drying up rivers so they can grow nice yards in the desert.

Do as I say and not as I do.

Can we all just agree to disagree on subjects like this. I am not going to voice my view on this because some will and some will not agree with me. It isn't worth the stress. Let's just use this forum for it's intended reason, to enjoy our reef tanks, to enjoy other reefers tanks, and to help each other become successful in having reef tanks.

Religious discussions are not based on scientific fact but wishful thinking. You all protest too much, and I bet not one of you even read the article.

what it doesn't talk about is all the pollution entering the reefs from tanks of the shipping industry .It doesn't talk about over fishing.
The article also doesn't mention the destruction of coast line by development.

Its not man made climate change because climate is always changing. There was lakes and tropical plants in Antarctica. We had global cooling at multiple points in time as well.
The problem with the media is they are pushing agendas. We are no longer getting true and full information but lines of agenda.
