Aiptasia is becoming terrible during ...

I am thinking I might need a file fish or something else to take care of the apstatia in my tank, I feel that the sizes are too big for Berghia nudibranches.
If I do get a file fish or something else, do I QT them or just add to the tank?
Size doesn't matter to the nudibranchs. They'll certainly go after smaller polyps first, but they'll eventually remove them all.

Nudibranchs completely removed all the aiptasia from one of my RSM250s, and I haven't seen them in there since then. Now the majanos have taken over. :)

Any idea if this is apstatia or majano?

Not majanos. Majanos have fewer, shorter tentacles, and most of them taper inward instead of outward like aiptasia. They also tend to show a greenish colouration under blue lights.

Aptaisia and Those are just waiting for kalk, when they are facing up its easy, the hard ones are the un accessible ones or under rocks.. turn off all flow and make a thick kalk paste in a syringe and just a small dab in its mouth it will melt away. Then if you can suck it out of its hole when its dead if not its ok just do one to two a day depending on tank size.

I've done that over 100 times before it works great. I'm sure there are other ways that work fine, I've only done it this way and lemon juice back in the day but thats a Terrible idea so I'd like to not think about it...

I made a kalk dispenser from two lengths of airline tubing, coat hanger and syringe, to get to the impossible ones under overhangs etc. You’ve gotta be dedicated though, lol

Thats for sure, this hobby is all about dedication :) that sounds like an interesting idea though.

Those big ones under the light out in the open, i wouldn't hesitate to knock those out, they get stronger in the light when they are dark like that, best believe they are reproducing and happy.

worst thing to do with aptaisia is nothing or trying to smash them into pieces same outcome. :face-with-spiral-eyes:

Aptasia
Using syringe, inject either lemon juice or better yet. . kalkwasser powder mixed with tank water into a paste the consistency of toothpaste and inject into the very center core and it will melt away

Yes, correct spelling, and lemon juice for the lemon aid.

Correct spelling? Did someone not understand the misspelled words? Is this jeopardy where is detrimental to have the correct spelling?

Pickling lime is 100 % Calcium mix it with lemon juice and inject the buggers . I had hundreds of them and I got a file fish gone.

I'm not sure what you mean I acknowledged vetteguy spelled it correctly when I didn't, is this what someone didn't understand?

In jeopardy it is detrimental to say "what is" before answering the question, there is no spelling in the game .you may be thinking of wheel of fortune where it is detrimental to have the correct spelling to win the game.

did you get a file fish? I just ordered one
Not sure who you’re asking (the OP, I presume) but I have one now. He did a month in quarantine before putting him in display. He did nowt for 4 or 5 days, then the Aiptasia’s vanished, almost over night. I’ve got a couple of LPS corals so they may be at risk from what I’ve heard but he is an Aiptasia terminator, that’s for sure.

dude these aiptasia are freaking my fish out making their home a nightmare I hope this filefish works. It's an ORA captive bred so I'm not QTing it. It's going straight into the tank just like the mandarin (ora captive bred).

It will be fine just inspect it good.

Why won't you try to kill a few by hand?
