You are totally wrong. The purpose of being right is to have an argument so that others who may also be right can feel like you are insulting them, when in fact everyone disagrees for the purpose of not understanding what the original source of confusion was.I'm all for arguing my point but this thread is crazy to me. Some of the most helpful and highly regarded figures in the hobby are saying get your heads out the bucket, there's more going on there. But that falls on deaf ears... I don't understand. I don't need to walk around the earth to believe its round, I can build off the knowledge or people smarter and more experienced than myself. You all realize who you're arguing right? I'll bet my house on the fact that all 3 of them know more this than the rest of us combined
Well.. if I'm understanding correctly, I'd say that you're wrong about me being wrong that you're wrongYou are totally wrong. Today is my wifes birthday, so thanks to all who have contributed to a fantastic rumble in the build up to the worst day of my year. I bought and signed all the cards myself and so I will not have to listen to discussion about how this kid or that one didn't send her a birthday card. She even has a card from her Grandson, who is one and cant write yet.
@Reefering1 , do you think she'll figure it out since I put all the cards into one envelop? My day is going to be long, I hope everyone on here has a clearer discussion that what I just wrote.
Thanks to everyone who has contributed to the angst and discussion leading up to this point, wish me luck.
Good luck with "your" big day today buddy!!You are totally wrong. Disclaimer: I have never used an ATS. Not really on topic but can anyone recommend a small scrubber that might fit in the sump of a reefer 170 that won't break the bank? I have 3 tanks running and the 170 is the only tank that struggles with nuisance algae in the DT, mostly gha. I run a chaeto fuge on all 3 tanks but I run them for the life forms that live there as I think chaeto is poor at lowering nutrients and I don't have a problem with excessive nutrients, at least those that I can measure. After reading through this post I would like to try a ATS just to see if it helps with the algae on the DT. Inquiring minds and all that
If more people used algae scrubber............. there would be no need to run these un- natural looking blue windex looking reef tanks...alot of that blue mentality stemmed from a need to control "in tank' algae..
a scrubber would allow use of a more natural and visually appealing spectrum closer to natural sunlight in our tanks...
I made a simple one for my 65 gallon AIO. Has worked pretty well up to this point! Can people post pics of their home made ones?

So true! There was a point when I had hair algae growing every where, I tried the Turbo Aquatics Scrubber and although it was growing Algae it was still growing in my Display Tank. I eventually took it out and just kept scrubbing my rocks. My tank finally Matured and I don't get any now. My Tank gets cleaned by my inverts and fish. The only place it will grow is inside my power heads.

VHO Actinic are the the best pops I've seen.
who are you kidding ? that looks very blue to me ...Here is my tank with a scrubber and white lighting
sure did...everywhere u look on R2R..you see complaints from folks with unwanted algae when they crank up the white spectrum..Windex tanks didn’t come about from wanting to control algae.
I expect the nutritional value of green algae to be severely compromised grown under predominantly blue light, effecting herbivores. Now, brown and red algae’s and photosynthetic bacteria, they would just love it blue. Always white for me. Blurple for scrubbers is said to be more efficient but I didn’t notice any difference just using whites.who are you kidding ? that looks very blue to me ...

take a look at some of our european counterparts these days..I see a trend back to more of a 10k look overseas ..and I find it very REFRESHING....

Blame poor quality iPhone cameras a decade ago. The tank in that pic is lit by 2x250w phoenix 14k halideswho are you kidding ? that looks very blue to me ...

Blues became popular long before R2R started
