Idk what happened all chems are normal salinity is perfect everything great!!!!
the only thing I can think of is my BF lowered the temperature from 80 to 75!
Whatever happened it killed our fully grown adult hippo tang , lion fish two damsels both of our maroon clowns
and our 1 harlequin shrimp and all the hermit crabs!!!!!
The only critters left other than coral and 2 anemones is our octopus and our snowflake eel are ok stressed but alive!
what happened is it as I suspect and the drastic change in temp in the tank killed them as I told him it may or is there something else I have overlooked???? Could putting crab meat made of polic kill everyone? That’s the only thing other than temp I can think of? Any help is greatly appreciated.

lost and heart broken in LA....

Fake crab meat can contain wheat, starch, sugar, salt, egg whites, maybe vegetable oil, and other additives like transglutaminase and red dye.

Sorry to hear about your loss, gutted for u. Did your bf intentionally lower the temp? I have read lower temp is less fatal than high temp, so would think 75 would be OK. unless it went lower than 75 without you knowing
Are you dosing anything?
Sprayed air freshener or cleaning products near the tank?
could you have a spike in electric?

I've forgot to plug my heater back in and had my tank drop to 65 lost a couple snails everything else was fine including fish corals and 2 anemones I dont think temp was the issue.

Yes I think stocking list is a recipe for octopus ink and that could be your issue. When was the last water change done? Could you have used fresh water instead? Son did that once took a few hours for the fish to react

If the octopus inked, wouldnt that be pretty noticeable? Or does it break down that fast even in a tank?

I keep my mixed reef with some very delicate fish, coral, and inverts at 73 degrees constantly and everything is thriving so it isn't the temperature.

Did anyone spray anything near the tank? Is it near the kitchen where fumes from Teflon coated pans could enter? Does anyone vape near the tank? Did anyone put the hands in the tank with soap residue on them? It seems that the only thing that could cause mass casualties without the parameters going out of whack would be some sort of foreign substance entering somehow.

Could you give us the info on your tank please, age and size of the system and the parameters that you have tests for. Assuming by looking at the stock list, you have quite a large tank, did everything die at once? Is it over a few minutes/hours/days/weeks?

Something odd with Not you but the picture.
We've yet to see values (parameters)...….
What type of water are you using ? ( Tap, RO ? )
any aerosols or hands in tank without being washed?
What test kits are you using ?
AGE OF TANK ??
