I think that lid cost me $12. The clear mesh cost more but until you have corals that would work fine.

Awesome. Only thing I’m worried about is 1. Mom/dad not letting me hang lights
2. Mom/ dad not letting me not have a canopy
Maybe I will go to Lowe’s tomorrow to get a lid.. evaporation and the mold is starting to be a problem lol, especially with me becoming a chemist and almost making chlorine gas

Lol, yeah. I will probably repaint and make my dad fix it. It was sitting on my tank, and it just fell off.. I have no idea why.

Get a glass top for that size of tank, and get cut outs where needed. No rot issues and birds won't go onto the tank

Once the mold is cleaned up, repainted, etc. get one or two of these. They mount to the rim of the tank and are designed to blow air

over the water to slightly cool it. If you aim them the other way, they will blow the moist air out the back of the canopy.

What about the tank being able to breathe...? There would be minimal to no fresh air flow

ANOTHER update! I’m going to make a mesh lid tomorrow, and have my dad fix the canopy. I also got more dry rock today (already added about 30 pounds of live rock and a dry rock mix,) and will add a couple of clowns to the tank tomorrow.

In my opinion that's up to you.. how long has it been since your cycle has been completed? Did you start with dry rock or live rock? Do you have coral in your tank currently?

Less light = less algae

I would forsure leave the lights off for 30 days of tank start. (My experiences) and then slowly ramp the lights up. Not sure which light you have and whether or not it can be adjusted as far as power level. If power cannot be adjusted. Limit how long the light is on for.

I read back a couple of posts, since you started with live rock and dry rock combo. The live rock super started your tank cycle and will help tremendously. Dry rock tends to have a bacteria die off and can leech alot of stuff into your tank as bacteria starts to colonize on it. Dry rock is more prone to algae growth compared to live rock.. (from what I've seen and read) your tank may still have a mini cycle to get through and will probably develop algae at some point during the "ugly" phase which is roughly about the first 4 months or so.

You can certainly leave the lights on a normal cycle but you may have to deal with the self induced algae problem if it happens. Leaving the lights off or at a minimum will certainly help reduce the algae

So the clowns have a sleep cycle so I would say if your lights are dimmable to dim them down so they still come on and go off at a certain time so the clowns know when to sleep wake up and what not. If they aren't dimmable I would use the light in the room they are in. Turn it off at a certain time so they know to go to sleep. No one wants grumpy clowns!!! They made a movie about that called IT. Imagine if he had the correct lighting could have saved some lives!

Also we want to see the clowns or make a build thread with them in it.

Yes, it’s a different tank it’s a biocube so it was much easier than my 90 lol.
