This is my bta.

I had him about two months, he looked good for about a week and has gone back and forth from this deflated state to a semi healthy state. This is probably the worst he has gotten. All parameter are in spec. Is there anything that can be done to help it? Is this normal? I know my daughters Rbta took about a month to settle in and look good. Everything else (coral and fish) looks good. Idk what to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

How old is the tank? Is he on the move and have you changed flow or lighting at all? Have you introduced any chemicals in the tank? I dropped a kitchen sponge into my tank once I use for cleaning the outside and the chemicals in it made my BTA look similar. An open mouth is not a good sign. Not much you can really do though. Keep the tank as stable as possible and wait it out.

Tank is about 6 months. I know still fresh for a bta but lfs convinced me no problems. We had good luck with my daughters rbta so we took the plunge. First week he moved toward powerhead so I moved powerhead away. He was where is now before , but had moved up on return box for a while and would open and deflate sparodicly. The moved back down here a week or so ago and has been looking worser. I don't run carbon but since you mentioned your exp i'll get some and put in return in sump, jic. No changes in flow or light. Tank stays pretty stable for a newer tank.

OK will admit I as hoping for a much better.... there.

IDK I am not an expert in BTA....I do know that that MY BTA's drove me batty in the first few months. I was always watching them and half the time their was something wrong. Yet they lived and have grown since.

ATM I think, I cant play expert but I think it takes anemones much longer to get used to your tank then anything else we deal with.

Thanx, I know it took a long minute for my daughters to get settled in. This one is just taking a bit longer. Thanks for your experience input. Just did a wc and added carbon jic something stray got introduced to tank. My daughter has a bunch of kids here when I am out of town, so who knows what could have happened.

I am new to this forum & also anemones. I purchased a green BTA. Due to inclement weather, UPS could not overnight, so I ordered on Monday & received on Thursday. It was deflated, of course, & was not green. I have a 30-gal JBJ Nanocube LED, 6mm glass thickness, 2 (two) Accela pumps (2x 266 got /16 watt each), 4 3000 rpm/ ball bearing type cooling fans, lighting: Daylight - 25 x 3 watt; Actinic - 466 NMI; AquaMaxx HOB skimmer; Ocean pulse duo wave maker w/2 directional flow nozzles. I hope this is enough rank info because that is "all she wrote!"

What can I do to make sure I do not do more harm than good to my anemone? I do have a 14-day guarantee. HELP, please! Cannot obtain decent pic as it has adhered itself under a rock & cannot get good camera angle.

Everything I have been able to find out, there isn't much to do. Give it all the good parameters that you have and just wait it out. It seems that to take them a few months to start looking better. Mine has perked up a little bit this morning and I'm hoping it's on its road to be settled.

If it still looks like the first pic of start thinking about cutting your loss. I've kept, nurtured, and propagated bubble tip anemones for the last few years. That's not a long time but I have had to throw away a bad split a few times. It's never easy and I'm sorry if this came across harsh, that's not my intent. Good luck

It was really looking bad last night. I thought euthanasia was definitely in the plans. But this morning it has reinflated and looking much better. Going to give it a little more time.

BTA are fairly resilient. Don't just pitch it, unless it's falling apart. Give it time. I've had them take 9 months to turn around after being rescued from a crashing tank in the past. It just may take time. Looking forward to a FTS.

Anemones are always doing something. The stringy thing is probably it pooping. Sometimes when introduced to new tanks, it will expell its water to clean out its system per say. That and to help it acclimate. They will move to wherever they feel safe and at home. It could be just from stress from going to a new tank, moving into high flow, then the flow reduced. Id give it more time and not mess with anything.
