Another conversation about how to chemically reduce nitrates.

I agree, don't Vodka Dose while using Pellets, you could however use vodka to ween off of pellets, but don't use them all out at the same time. And when dosing into the sump, it doesn't matter where you put it.

To me this is the same as using microbator 7 (or whatever its called)

It took a little bit of time to produce the long reply to this thread and several posts were posted while I was typing... I hope you understand.

Heck ya I dose. I can't afford the Industrial Skimmer.:xd: Vodka is much cheaper than a skimmer.

I hear ya...I'd have to remodel to have somewhere to put it. LOL

Who's this guy playing the devil's advocate!? LOL You carbon doser!

As far as using an industrial skimmer this would only help due to overfeeding. Overstocking skips the protein stage and goes straight to ammonia. This is where carbon.dosing becomes essential in consuming nitrates. Skimming more will not help at all if the protein stage is skipped by the production of ammonia from fish.

Now we are talkin skimmers!!

Very true. Definitely the simplest way IMO...doesn't require taking out any walls...

This is intended on being my sps tank! Fish poop = food. .Low nutrients = success. Its not a "I just started an sps tank" theory here. I have several years in the hobby and the accumulative knowledge in this design.

I hear ya, bro. Sounds like you've got some awesome well thought out plans. Do you have a build thread yet? I definitely want to follow.

Both tanks had had their own issues. At times I want to take a ball bat to the 40. I just keep holding onto hope that it will become the tank of my dreams until I upgrade to a 90...

Its in the works.... I would not set up a tank of I couldn't upgrade. My stock I'm my 29 would make most 75 gallon owners think twice
