Sorry guys, I gave Jebao the old college try. I am done with them. I have 3 DC series pumps and 2 wave makers. 2 of the 3 pumps have now died in under 2 years. The 3rd I bought to replace one of the failed ones and when (not if) it fails, I'll replace it with a better pump. 1 of the wavemakers shorted out and stopped working altogether and the other one failed but I was able to bypass the controls to use it as a static circulation pump. 4 for 5 failed.

I had an old eheim on the shelf that is pushing 10 years and still going strong. I connected it to my sump pump in place of the failed Jebao and am back in business.

DO NOT BUY JEBAO!

A Jebao powerhead is roughly 1/5th the price of an Ecotech and performs a similar function. Given you can buy five entry-level Jebao powerheads for the price of one MP-10, how long do you think it's appropriate that they last? Do you expect that the Jebaos should last as long as, if not longer, than a name-brand pump with a warranty that costs 5x as much?

As a jebao user, I definitely do not expect the same performance from them, but I do expect a decent lifespan out of them. I have only been running their pumps (2x pp-20 and a dcp-15000) for about 2-3 months, I will see what sort of life I get out of them. I bought them because of the low price, to lessen the blow of the initial costs on my setup.

Agreed, I have been using Jebao products with fine reliability. I think my oldest Jebao pump is coming up on 3 years old now and has absolutely no problems whatsoever. I'm just always curious to hear what people expect in terms of life expectancy when they buy Jebaos for half to a fifth the price of the next leading brand in pumps. The OP mentioned they got about 2 years out of some of their Jebao pumps. Personally, I think that's pretty good for a pump submerged in seawater 24/7.

By contrast, Ecotech's warranty is only one year on their pumps. It's less likely that an Ecotech will fail after 2 years, but if it did, you'd still be out of pocket for the replacement costs, just as you might be with the Jebao.

They are also stolen intellectual property.

I wouldn't use one if you gave me a life time supply

Is this your opinion? Or is this the opinion of a judge and jury that oversaw a patent infringement trial between Jebao and a plantiff?

I would have to say that Ive gotten my monies worth out of mine. 4 years and still running in my system. One thing I found out about them is the controller, which is cheaply made in my book, fails. Second is the power block.

I didn't like the controller that came with them. It never stayed in sync as I run a alternating wave pattern on my system.

After some research, a couple years ago, I found a little known controller that had a small following for them. The JB wave controller. These bluetooth controllers work exceptionally well with them. Unfortunately, they are no longer made. So it's a moot point now.

I'll run this way until they die, or should say the pumps die. As long as the controller works, I'll buy them again and keep going. What works, works.

This is an unfair comparison. Ecotech is out in left field with their ripoff pricing. I wouldn't buy their product for any reason. There are reasonable alternatives however like Eheim, Hydor even Coralife and a few others. I would call Jebao very typical Chinese stolen tech junk. I am not saying they won't last a long time but they are certainly hit and miss. Check out the ratings on Amazon for any Jebao products it is usually low ratings where they prematurely failed, high shill ratings and mid-level ratings for people that have had them only a short while.

I paid around $100 for the DC pumps and I think $75 for the wave pumps. So not super cheap by any stretch. The failure rate is simply too high. I wish everyone that has them well but I suspect more will fail than not.

Its not my opinion, it's a settled outcome forced on Jebao by the ITC. Jeboa was longer able to sell models in the US but continued to sell the stolen property outside the US, outside US jurisdiction.

The net takeaway is that they knowingly and deliberately stole the property in the first place.

Considering I purchased one of jebaos NEW pumps, I'd say they were still allowed to sell in the US maybe not that particular model of Wavemaker though.

US patent No. 8, 191, 846 (846) is a patent issued in 1838 for a grain cleaner?
