Any of You Using Ozone?

I am shooting for 380-400mV. That would be ideal for me. I think my tank is very clear now, but I hope for it to be extremely clear once the ozone kicks in.

How many mg per day unit are you using?
Is there any advanyage to a Corona Discharge unit? Do the Corona discharge units require air dryers?
 
I ordered a Sanders 25mg unit. It's not hooked up yet. It will be here tomorrow, but I won't hook it up for 4 more days. I never researched the Corona units so I am not sure. From what I understand you should use an air drier regardless, because it allows the ozonizer to become more efficient.

UPDATE

I just started running the ozonizer yesterday. My ORP is up to 330mV. The tank is definitely clearer! I can't wait until it gets in the 380-400mV range.

Well. Everything is running well with no smell of ozone! I have the ozonizer running full blast pumping 25mg/hr and the orp is at 367. I cut it off there, because I don't want to clear up the water too fast and cause any bleaching. I will keep it here for about a week or so then raise it to 380-400.
 
Congrats man! Now that I got my custom sump, and my ASM G3 finally fits, I will get my ozonizer running. What size tank do you have Chris?
And do you have a pic of how you are running the ozonizer?
 
I have a 30g cube. :) I broke down my 75g SPS tank last month. :(

I don't have a pic, but i can take one for you.

I have been considering ozone also. The thing with ozone is contact time. That is why reactors work so well. The longer the dwell time the better the effect.
I was considering a small unit so that I could avoid discharging thru carbon. Otherwise I will have to create a custom carbon reactor for the 1.5" discharge pipe on the Mrc-6 skimmer. Ozone is supposed to dissapate very quickly when seriously adgatated like in a big skimmer. I am curious if I can gain some benefit by using the smallest unit available to me.
Not everyone plays with ozone and many don't use it properly. I have seen it used on systems that had literally no effect because the skimmers were flowing too fast with their shorter bodies and just flushing the exposed water out to quickly. A lack of tank maintenance after an ozonizer is installed is also very counter productive yet people get that way because every thing "LOOKS" fine.

LMK, how things do and explain more of how you discharge the exposed water back to the system. I want to learn more. I have used it in the past but had all the equipment. I am too cramped for space for any new reactors to plumb and maintain. I want to try to cheat a small dose in.

I have bumped it up to 380mV. It stays pretty constant during the day. The ozonizer comes on multiple times a day, but doesn't stay on constantly. I will take some pics for you and post them. I am injecting the ozone directly into the skimmer.and seems to be pretty efficient. the exposed water is discharged from the skimmer output directly into the sump!
 
UPDATE

I have bumped it to 380mV!!! I think I will keep it here. Not sure if it will get clearer than this.
 
So, Chris...You are not discharging the skimmer water over activated carbon and aren't having any issues?

Are you just using a dryer, ozonizer, and ORP controller?

If so, I may try this myself.
 
Yes. that is correct.

Controller +` Luft Pump -> Air Dryer -> Ozonizer -> Skimmer -> Tank

No carbon except in the phosban reactor. No problems here! Water is crystal clear and no trace of ozone.
