Ok, there are varying types of "fake" nails. More importantly, just the polish and or gels coats would be the offender. But after a full cure, and freshly washed hands, I'd go in.
I use dip powder nails for myself. The liquids are basically thin superglue (which we use all the time in our tanks) and colored acrylic powders. Once my mani is dry, hands washed, no second thought given. But by the time I've needed to go in the tank, I've usually washed dishes or my hands lots of times. So any residual would be long gone.
I've only been doing this going on 2 years though, but so far no issues and coral growing well.
