Any reefers with fake nails?

I have gel nails (salon) and have my hands in there all the time for years-nothing bad has happened. As for the glue I just file it off with an emery board.
This!

You shouldn't be putting your hands in the tank without gloves, what with the nasty bacterial infections you can get from live rock, so anything that prevents glove-wearing is probably not the best plan for any time you're going to be working in the tank. If the nails work with gloves, wear the gloves regardless. If not, tongs are your friend.
Have you gotten any bacterial infections from your tank/ live rock....that seems far fetched to me! I haven't used gloves in a tank in over 20 years and have never had an issue once, not that it's a bad idea to protect yourself, but it's by no means a mandatory thing nor should it be, it's definitely an option.

This. People panic for nothing. I'm more afraid of touching interior aircraft surfaces @ work.

Just a little note. It seems some people here had an issue with my post. I did this post just because I wanted to hear about other people's opinions on fake/arcrylic nails and how people deal with them in an aquarium environment (if they're safe for the water, maintenance, etc).

I apologize if this wasn't the right place to post this question.

I think it's the right place, and a very interesting question!

As for the glue, I try to use tweezers when I glue corals to frag plugs... squeeze the glue onto the plug, pick up the piece of coral with tweezers, and place it. Glue is easy to get off the tweezers and your fingers don't get stuck together :face-with-tears-of-joy:

Ahaha thank you. I'll try that for sure next time :)

It's a real question, folks are a bit sensitive around here sometimes!

It is an excellent question. Just a bunch of dudes who can't relate :grinning-squinting-face:

I would not be worried about painted/cured nails in the water. But as someone who ends up using a pumice stone because I am so bad at coating my hands in glue/epoxy, I am of little assistance on the mess side of it!

It just surprised me that I got DM'd for this post. Made me wonder if I was doing something wrong ahaha.

Anyways, pumice stone is a good one. Nothing like a good buffing to get rid of stray glue

Honest question, what % of people here do you think realistically follow that "rule".

I have a couple sets of arm lengths gloves, which are nice for the rare times I just need to do something quick (and really for the tanks protection from ME), but when it comes to real tank work.... I don't bother, for lots of reasons, but mainly dexterity.

Could be they're talking about mycobacterium marinum? Still, it's a rare infection nonetheless. Not something I'd worry about on the daily

I think your post was great. Relevant and a real question. I am pleased to see your level of care and concern for your tank. Clearly others have the same issue/question. Rock on please.

I can't believe someone here actually sent you a DM about your post. Just ignore it and move on. We are all here to learn and share. There are some awesome people on the flip side here too.

It's alright. I just wouldn't want any issues on my favorite forum :(
