Snagged a bunch of new fish from Dr. Reef's. Had a male blue throat trigger die in my DT, a blonde naso in observation. They were both very stressed and shy and not eating. Sucks. I tried a couple different things but they just were never right. Dracula goby who committed death by sump by jumping into the overflow and dying in a sock. So yeah... flushed quite a bit of money there. Probably gonna take a break from Dr. Reef's an QT myself this time.

I now have a Oreni Tilefish and a Quoyi in QT that appear to be doing very well and I cannot wait for them to go into the DT. Easily the most I've spent on fish ever so I'm taking ultra care and time with these guys.

Bit of a gamble with that Quoyi. You might be coming back on to this thread if it turns out to be one of the ones that aren’t reef safe with caution.

I bought a $200 hammer from @calikidcorals which barely has any tissue on it. Of course the pictures didn't show the tissue but I assumed a well known company wouldn't sell half dying coral. Well I learned my lesson.

Guys I should have preface this by saying it is not from my tank. My wife bought it as decorations but I see it as a voodoo back luck piece for my tank.

Yup. Bought some gorgonians last week, my former gold spot rabbitfish was apparently hungry. Gorgs and rabbitfish are gone now.

Glad this thread came along so I can vent finally. I bought a new house about a month ago and picked up the IM 100 EXT when it was on sale to prep (moving it from a 120g at the old house I couldn't bring over). So I've got $1600 sunk on a tank but then killed almost everything moving it 3mi to my new place. Fish, inverts, and a clam that I've had for years. It's been the worst month of my life. I wish I hadn't bought that stupid tank so I could just give the survivors away and get out of the hobby. But no...I have a stupid tank that now I need to get rolling again so I can care for these poor clowns that made it.

I got a couple tiny SPS frags delivered today from one of our well know vendors. They must charge by the millimeter or something because it's to small to go by inch standards. Anyways, I remove the plug from the tiny coral and I'm holding it in the water against the rock where I intend to place it and I drop it. So I watch 80 bucks plus shipping float into a rock crevice where there is no way I can ever retrieve it. I offered the shrimps payment but they refused to bring it out for me. What a wonderful way to start the day. Now I have to go fill my truck gas tank too.

Lol don't sweat it. Ive knocked my arm against one of my tabling acros while doing some maintenance and watched a good size frag go through my Nero like a woodchipper. That would been a nice frag but so long. Losses happen and we just gotta pull it togeather and keep pushing forward. Lost a couple good size colonies to a alk swing recently too it just is what it is. Looking forward to filling the new open spaces.

I busted up laughing while reading some of these. I consider myself to be quite the expert when it comes to wasting money. I bought my first car for $900 only for it to die right after I dumped $700 into it. It ran for a month and then I sold it to the junk yard for $50. I've purchased thousands of dollars worth of acros and I only have 3 left...3 of which I recently purchased.

I have to share my history too. I'm a fish serial killer. Definitely, over 100 fish succumbed under my care for various reasons, and countless corals.

The latest is a regal angel from Biota in an IM 14g. I returned from a weekend getaway to find the ATO didn't work The return pump blew nothing but bubbles.

I have the same problem from the OP with a GMK. Glued it onto a rock, but it was too small to stay on rock. flew away and disappeared.

There isn't a grave large enough for the fish that have died in my tanks.

I'm way better at keeping bonsai trees so I've moved my money tossing habits at living trees that I can actually keep alive growing and happy. I still have my reef tank, but I add very few things anymore.
