NOT nitrate --->>>> nitrite

i added 2ppm ammonia 1 time and its reading 20ppm do i divide by 3.29 to get the correct value cause it would be 6ppm which would make ALOT more sense

I do not personally know its accuracy in seawater, but the manual answers your specific question (no correction to get ppm nitrite ion):

The instrument displays the nitrite (NO–2) concentration in ppm. To convert the displayed concentration to nitrate-nitrogen(NO–2-N) divide the reading by 3.29. To convert the displayed concentration to sodium nitrite(NaNO2) multiply the reading by 1.5. The checker automatically turns off 2 minutes after reading.

But it makes no sense that i put 2ppm ammonia and its showing 20ppm it would make MUCH more sense if i divided by 3.29 to get 6ppm

I don't know what is off or why. Could be many things, from nitrite test error to ammonia added being different than you think, to some other source of ammonia or nitrite.

But the division is not appropriate if you used a checker that comes with this manual:

yea thats the 1 i have i also have a API that as soon as i add the regent it goes instantly to max 5ppm (the max it can read)

So am i right in thinking nitrite don't matter i have a ammonia hanna checker but the regent A bottle is black and keep getting Low light error new ammonia tests coming 2morrow shall i add more ammonia if it reads 0 then wait 24 hour if its 0 i can add fish?

I don't know.

Can you describe what you did to cycle this tank?

not sure as my ammonia hanna checker is giving me a low light error i think regent A is bad getting new testers 2morrow red sea ammonia + more hanna regents

I personally would not add a fish until I saw ammonia go up and then down.

Yes unfortunately the drops in dr tims ammonia are way off…if the bottle called for 52 drops to get to 2ppm then you’re probably at 8+…it’s not gonna hurt anything to wait for an accurate ammonia test but you’re probably gonna need to do some water changes to get that down a bit or your cycle may take forever
