Where - i can´t find that either on Hannas product page or in the manualit says the hanna HR nitrite checker is for salt water also
Its not uncommon if the nitrification step freeze before the second step. Often happens if the NH4/NH3 concentration is to high. Do another WC - DO NOT add any more ammonia and wait till the NO2 drops if you will chose that pathway to know if your nitrification steps are completedo i diluted 1ml tank water with 9ml fresh salt water got 158ppb x 10 = 1580 x 3.29 = 5198 divided by 1000 = 5.1982 nitrite still crazy high saying as my tank is not converting that much ammonia
NO2 in saltwater is not as toxic as in fresh water, hence many people doe not bother NO2 levels - they just wait to see the NH4 become low and start to add fish as Randy recommend.
Personally I prefer to start along this method, knowing if I follow this - I do not get either high NH4/NH3 concentrations or high NO2 levels. An additional advantage is that this method does not result in sky high nitrates when everything is finished and cycled
Sincerely Lasse
