Apex setup

I'm trying to set it up. Thats why the thread title says setup.

I had this problem when setting mine up - it required completely resetting the Apex and then starting over. If that doesnt work - the best place (IMHO) to ask is not here - its Neptune tech support. Unless there are some Neptune tech support people hanging around (I know there are some). Good luck with it. PS when did you buy it - is it an early model - some of them have had problems and require chip replacements.

I'll just go out and say it. This is pretty darn frustrating for an $800 peice of plastic.

I have the blue light on my base unit.

I am on the Apex's network.

I go to apex.local and I get to an Apex screen that says timeout or some junk.

Help please before it ends up under someone's tire.
PS there is also a tool you can download from Neptune to see the IP address - which allows you to connect. Another thing - is your wifi password containing any spaces?

Ok. I got through the step where you connect to your wifi network and to the login screen. However, the login admin and password 1234 don't work

Had the same issue hooking up to wifi. It didn't like my router. It worked once I connected it to my wifi range extender (different router).

With all due respect, some of us around here are pretty experienced with Apex Gear. I was simply asking him if he got up the point of finding the Apex Wifi SSID on his device. Phone or computer, shouldn't make a difference. We are here to help, just need to understand what is going wrong and what point he's at during install... And yes there is always the option of him contacting support.

With all due respect - in the OP it says he connected to the APex's wifi network. Which I assumed thought meant that he had found the apex Wifi SSID network. I'm trying to help as well. If you read some of the other posts - it also suggested that using an iPhone vs android could make a difference - I was only trying to point out that he said he was using his computer.

This unit is new???
I would just do a Reset and start again

PPS - I could never get the actual Apex 'WIFI' to work consistently - I bought another wifi extender, connected it to my wifi network, as another poster said - and hardwired it to the Apex - it now works flawlessly but the apex 'wifi' is turned off.

Great to hear Kevin.... We have all gone through our initial frustrations. Apex certainly has a learning curve that takes patience... Lots to learn.. We are here for you my friend. Neptune also has a forum, as well as a FaceBook User Group page where we answer faster. Good Luck!!

I used to work in help desk support
You'd be blown away by the % that unplugging then plugging said item back in actually works and is the problem. I believe it was over 50% LOL
I would get people spouting profanities at me, yell at me, swear up and down they've power cycled the item, but after you make them do it over the phone and they go through all steps they are befuddled by the simplicity of just resetting a device.
Glad you got it working.

Honestly, I'm not 100% sure. I thought it was my wifi password at first, but I verified it.

I think what was happening is when I was connecting to the Apex under networks, my computer kept kicking back to my wifi. I disabled those and I was finally able to see the networks and log my Apex into my wifi network. Once I did that I had to do a factory reset to log get the admin/1234 username and password defaulted back. Then requested the token and linked to Fusion.

Piece of cake!

I don't have the newer style apex but I did have similar issue yesterday setting mine up, had to factory reset through the controller and get everything back to admin/1234

Maybe their next version will be as easy as pressing a button.
