Hey guys anyone have good success with removing nitrates with aquaforest pro bio s and np pro? I've been using it for a while without huge effects yet I did use live rock from anothers tank so its maybe die off from rock still, any thoughts?

I have good success with Red Sea NoPo if that's what you mean but yes if you transferred rock from another your nitrates and phosphates could be affected
I don't use aquaforests myself I'm using Red Sea just too many products in the aquaforest. Even Red Sea has 8

I had nothing but cyano while using no pro and pro bio s. Also never noticed any reduction in nitrate. Every time I restarted carbon dosing wham more cyano. I have gone the algae reactor route and won't ever look back.

Im running a jbj 45 only really room for the one reactor and im gonna run gfo in that

How long you have been using them specifically? What are your nutrient levels? How much and what you feed to fish and corals and how frequently? Whats your livestock number including fish and coral?

I think -NP Pro is a pretty mild form of carbon dosing and a lot of people have had good success. How long have you been using it and how much have you been using? What are your nitrates/phosphates at?

I can't say it has done much for me personally but I have pretty high nitrates and never got to a point of hugely overdosing. I just made the switch to vodka and vinegar yesterday so I will be curious over the next couple of months to see how it compares.

How big is the reactor? you could stack Life bio fil, carbon, and GFO in the reactor for control the nitrates and phosphates

I ran a few things trying to get my nitrates under control. The best results that I have had were with Zeovit media, then switch to life bio fil when it was available here in the US. I have been running the life bio fil for about two months and my nitrates are staying steady a 8ppm. I am not running the life bio fil in the sump flow tray so the stacking method might be your best bet. I do dose NP pro and Pro bio s.

I have been battling cyano for the past year, but have deduced that it not the NP pro or the Pro bio s. My thoughts are the cyano is more environmental due to season change and CO2 levels in my house. I vent an air line from outside to the skimmer and the PH stays above 8.05.

I was gonna do vodca but figured Id go af route and ya I could stack different stuff in there that was an option I've been thinking of, and its water change day today so ill let you guys know my lvls when I test em I like to test before my water change. Zeovit is supposed to be one of the best but my sump is in the back of tank so def no room for that [emoji13]

I also but some bio rings and such in the bottom shelf of my tray hoping for more bio filtration but maybe thats a bad idea im prettyy sure I have enough rock and the rings are maybe holding nitrates now

Probs about 30lb of rock id say, i got it live from a friend so never weighed but my guess is around there!

Let the results come first then possibly we can speak...;)

Ya who knows there could be a huge change since last time tbh! I didnt test last week and switched to 10g changes instead of 10 but there is alot of algae too so that will be using up alot of nutrients! Iv got gfo on the way and some new carbon too cant wait for those to show up!

When you post parameters dont forget to answer these...
How long you have been using these products specifically? How long you set up the tank? How much and what you feed to fish and corals and how frequently? Whats your livestock number including fish and coral?

I tried it for awhile & my nitrate and phosphate never budged. Very disappointing.
I switched back to using zeostart3.

4 mollies
1 clown
Buncha clean up crew
Feed mysis about a quarter block a day, sometimes skip a day here n there, think I should maybe feed less tho
No corals as of yet
Tanks just about 2 months old and been using the AF drops for about a month, just wanted to see if ppl were having success. I have gfo on the way and thinking im gonna get some bio pellets too.

First off your system is 2 months old and still cycling and yes you nutrient levels and going to be all over the place. I also would not advise running bio pellets with AF systems, from my experience of running bio pellets is was not good.

I would suggest
running GFO, carbon and the life bio fil media, this will help with controling your nutrients.
I would suggest also running AF 1+2+3+ for you systems parameters and elements along with reef salt. You can also dose ABE&V and that is all you would need if you feed the mysis plus some other fine food with our frozen.

Run Phosphate at .02 to .04 is a good thing for a reef thank and nitrates of 3 to 12 or higher depending how your system looks. At this point you are more concerned with the phosphates. If you need to get your phosphates in line pretty quick I would suggest looking at products that use lanthanum chloride link.

Well I figured I'd talk a little about my personal experiences on this one.

1. Your tank is young and it's going to act weird for awhile. [emoji4]

2. You can help yourself with keeping the nitrate in check with weekly 10% water changes. Don't skip it. [emoji4]

3. Once your system settles then you may find yourself having to adjust the dosing of pro bio s and np pro. What I mean is my personal system went to 0 phos and 0 nitrate. I had to feed heavier and cut back on the dosing of both of those .

Yeah I know its a new system, alot of the nutrients are still coming from die off from the lr pretty sure, my clean up crew has been goin hard on the algae but I just wanted to know if the AF drops actually worked for anyone and kinda sounds like no lol its not really an AF system yet since im jus usin the reef salt and these drops

Your tank went to 0 from dosing the af drops?! And ya I know its gonna be weird for a while but this is what im looking for! Pplz experiences with the product
