Aquaforest Nitrate Removal

Yeah I know its a new system, alot of the nutrients are still coming from die off from the lr pretty sure, my clean up crew has been goin hard on the algae but I just wanted to know if the AF drops actually worked for anyone and kinda sounds like no lol its not really an AF system yet since im jus usin the reef salt and these drops

Oh quite to the contrary my friend . It did work for me. It just takes a little time. Now when I made the switch my tank was about 3 months old and it was fully cycled. Once I started dosing pro bio s and np pro it took about 2 weeks I'd say before I say the numbers drop. When they did it was very fast so I had to cut back on the dosing of the pro bio s and np pro. I hope you didn't get the wrong impression. It works my friend lol [emoji23] it works. Patience, test, test, test. [emoji16]

That reply was before I seen yours! Ill just keep doin the dang thang then lol, you use gfo or anything as well?

I do use the phos minus now. I would also encourage you to use it also. It will help you get things where you want them.

Your exactly right, I'm sure your experiencing die off and probably getting phos from your rock. That's very common. The use of gfo will help with that. Just stick with it. These things take time. [emoji4]

Trust us you'll be the next Aquaforest success story! [emoji16][emoji16]

Just takes a little time is all. [emoji6]

Btw when you see a lot of algae etc and your phos numbers look ok, they really are not. You'll get a false sense of security. What is really happening is that your algae is using up the high available phosphate and you think your numbers are good but they are not.

When your phosphate is truly low then you won't have algae problems at all. [emoji846][emoji6]

You got the best two person with AF experience here helping you out. Your system is very very new and those high nutrient levels reflect that. So, sit tight dose regularly as per recommendation you will be good. Don't panic and do mistake.

Okay thanks, do you guys recommend shutting my skimmer off for a while after I dose? Its an all in one tank so less time for bacteria to grow

And I hope you guys know I do appreciate the help and advice! Im not just trying to whip through fast just wanna make sure im using it properly and use proper stuff with it!

Lol ....if you are really not trying to whip through then I must say you will be blessed. The process is a bit painful to understand and use at the start but once it starts working it works like a charm.

No actually there is no need to shut down the skimmer. If you can adjust your skimmer to skim dry then I do recommend that. [emoji846]

It takes some tweaking and time, but once you hit the right dosing and parameters you system will look great. It works, in general patients is your best friend in this hobby. Make one change, wait two weeks, Make another change wait two weeks.

The best two quote or suggestion I really find true are...

"Nothing good happens fast in this hobby only bad things happen overnight, if you think you go slow, slow down even more"...Diesel

We don't keep corals, we keep water and everything falls in line automatically...

My cuc is the nicest thing for cleanin up my algae but not my levels will prob go back up a bit cuz algae isnt eatting nutrients lol, im bad for forgetting to dose as well

Would be nice to hook right up to a doser but with this stuff you really cant

Ya but im not sure how that would work with the Pro bio s especially since it is supposed to be refrigerated after opening, and the np pro I guess you could just mix in a solution and have it dose like an hour a day and find the right mixture for the tank but sounds like more of a headache!

The NP pro comes in 2000ml disposable containers and one can dose off of a regular doser. Rumor has it if one keeps the Pro bio S below 78 degrees in and dark place, one is fine not having the Pro bio S not refrigerated and stirred before dosing;);) nudge, nudge.

Again the NP pro comes for dosing link. Link. Yes, last time I ordered NP Pro it was on backorder and and diluted it for dosing off of a regular doser. After diluting it I dose 2 ml twice a day, I have been doing this for 8 months.

The key is to stir and keep the Pro Bio S stirred or it starts to grow algae and also store below 78 degrees. ;)
